Grading Boeckman
Boeckman's two interceptions cost him any chance at grading a winning performance on the head coach's scale, but Tressel was still pleased with how Boeckman rebounded from the two interceptions.
''Todd handled it when it didn't go as well as he liked and it didn't end up being a setback for him,'' Tressel said. ''I thought he hung in there ... You're going to have points in this next game that you're going to have to put something aside that didn't go the way you wanted it and concentrate on what he wants to happen. That was a good opportunity for that exercise.''

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Ohio State junior quarterback Todd Boeckman is the man on the spot going into Husky Stadium today. It had to happen sometime.
Boeckman will make his first start on the road. It will be against Washington, a team many observers are labeling as a dark horse in the Pac-10, and in what can be one of the more unfriendly places in the country.
Whether he is ready for it is a moot point, offensive coordinator Jim Bollman said.
"You can prepare yourself mentally as much as you can for what's going to happen, but it's another one of those deals where we've got to go out there and experience it and perform, try to get some things done," Bollman said.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
SEATTLE -- When Todd Boeckman is asked about himself, he usually answers with a sentence that starts with "we."
Whether it's intentional or not, it's an especially interesting trait. He's a first-year starter, and it has been clear since last spring that Boeckman's growth and Ohio State's growth would be inextricably intertwined.
If the new Buckeyes quarterback grew quickly, the team probably would, too. If he struggled or lost his job, the season might have spiraled into a Notre Dame-like dive.
OK, that might be exaggerating a little -- particularly with a defense as good as OSU's -- but it is the harsh reality that any inexperienced quarterback faces. It is also what made yesterday such an important milestone in the Buckeyes' young season.
Boeckman struggled against Washington in the first half. This was his first test -- no, those two extra spring games the Buckeyes played against Youngstown State and Akron don't count -- and it came thousands of miles from home in a place that probably made him feel as if he had his ear 6 inches from the amplifiers at an AC/DC concert.
