QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

It was about to work out for him/them. Nebraska had a pretty generous NIL offer in place and he would've been guaranteed to start here. Then the Raiola stuff coincidentally or not came out of the blue while McCord was in Lincoln visiting.

That is the understanding among those that know down here. The general fan base is freaking out a bit without connecting the dots. It is still a little nerve racking, because Nebraska also is going to lose their existing QB recruit in the class with no 100% guarantee that Raiola is signing. Again though all signs point towards Raiola probably coming here and wanting to play right away.
Which is stupid.

With Dylan you won’t be bowl eligible again. He’s not what people think.

If it is true that Day opened up the QB competition and the McCords decided it was time to walk, then there is no way you want him back. What message does that send to the rest of the team? That ship has sailed and is burning.
Agree. I can't see how McCord can't see that he wasn't up to snuff. Opening up the competition doesn't mean he ISN'T the starter. Isn't it kind of an unwritten rule that if you aren't a major star it's a competition anyway? I'm sorry, and I'm not bashing McCord specifically, but it's just a cowardly chickenshit move to transfer. Avoid competition, yeah, that's the ticket.

We are from a bygone era…MCCord is not an outlier he’s the norm.

You are not bashing Kyle but what he did was a cowardly chicken$#&+ move. Got it! Thanks for the clarification. BTW - No one knows what was said in private conversations. Almost everything is absolute speculation. But some choose to believe the worst.

Bottom line,

Kyle started 2023 and played fairly well. However, you could tell something was off. We finished outside the top 25 in total offense, started slow in every game (minus MSU), missed countless big hits in basically every game, and there was obvious frustration there.

I don’t mean to sound unappreciative for what Kyle did but he was the safe choice. Kyle was the guy who maybe would win us the Notre Dame game in week 4. However, Kyle had a ceiling and we saw that with how our offense finished.

Devin was always the option that had the chance for a super nova level and now we will see what he has. I will say that having his first start vs a top 10 team isn’t very fair to Devin. So if Devin doesn’t dominate I hope we all give him some grace.

I should say, and again not a knock on Kyle, Syracuse might be a good spot for him.

Oh, for fuck's sake.

Let me preface that the details may not be what is floating around out there. Rumors of father's involvements, open competitions, etc, etc. It might be all a load of crap. But if, IF, he is transferring because Day opened the competition, then I think it's a chickenshit move. From people whining about elections that didn't go their way to fans bitching about a legitimate offsides call, I'm sick of the entitlement. Earn your fucking job, Kyle. You weren't as good as you could have been. If you aren't good enough, it's Day's ass.

That's what I'm saying. If it's more than that or the details are different, then my opinion will change.

In retrospect, this recruiting profile picture is kinda hilarious (with his dad standing imposingly to the side, for anyone missing the humor).
