QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

Well, glad he had some success at Syracuse. Round peg in a square hole here, methinks. Kinda a mental masturbation thing, but cannot believe tOSU wins a Nati with him at the helm. Very much like the 2014 Nati, with Cardale exhibiting his big arm, and winging it over the Bama S's. Doesn't happen with JT either. Guess we'll watch with interest in where he is drafted in the pros, ahead of Howard or after.

To me, 2024 Howard and 2023 McCord were equivalent on many metrics after the first two games of the season. On one dimension, Howard began to separate rapidly after the Oregon game: leadership. At the same time, it seemed like he started completing longer passes and dropping some really impressive dimes. I don't really think Ohio State wins that natty with McCord at QB.

At the beginning of the year, I wondered if Howard would provide any improvement over McCord. At the end of the year, I wondered if Howard might just go in the NFL draft.

I appreciate all he did and wish Kyle McCord and his father well, but I don't think I am alone in believing that Howard was a complete upgrade in terms of leadership, decision-making, and performance.

Howard's legs and toughness blow McCord out of the water. Not even a good comparison imo.

McCord's absolute void of mobility, along with his inability (or unwillingness possibly) to pull the trigger on open routes down field were ultimately the differences to me. Too safe, and too many points left of the field.

Will doesn't have a particularly strong arm by any means but he was willing to let it fly down field and give his guys a shot. As he did it more, he got much more accurate.

Certainly agree on the intangibles as well.

Happy for Kyle, good to see him succeed, but he left too many points out on the field at OSU.
