QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

Read that Ewers collected a tad north of $1 million from an energy drink while at tOSU. (he couldn't get the $ due to Texas law as a HSer). Committed, and reclassified to get his loot. and maybe some elevated training from Day & Co. Or put another way, he came to tOSU specifically to get his cash, and spy on our playbook, for when Texas played tOSU in the expanded playoffs....

The expanded playoffs were still a wet dream when Ewers was here....

Fairly certain that energy drink company was from Austin, Texas. I never understood why people think he fleeced OSU... He could have went anywhere to get the Texas drink money, it wasn't contingent on being a Buckeye.

I know had a deal with Ricart ( I think most of the guys do) I remember the video they posted when he left and he was giving the keys to his vehicle back. It was actually pretty funny and Ewers was a good sport about it.

Certainly I'm not in the know about Ewers now in Texas. Don't believe he's down there driving a 2011 Vega.....he did get some Ryan Day QB training while here. That can't be bad. Also heard/read that the energy drink company told him they're not paying him $1 mill to sit the bench. So he asked Day if he could start a couple of games (none of this verified), and Day responded that if he could beat out a Heisman finalist, he could start. Hence the start of Ewers exodus. Dunno if true, and neither probably going to verify/deny. Does make sense though. And he had an above average year in 2023. But believe you're right, he was always gonna be a Longhorn.

I’m not asking this because I want it to happen, but curious if there is any possibility.

Would OSU allow him to come back?
If it is true that Day opened up the QB competition and the McCords decided it was time to walk, then there is no way you want him back. What message does that send to the rest of the team? That ship has sailed and is burning.
