QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

Off topic from McCord, but who is more responsible for QB development ? Day or Dennis?
Day 100000% Its his specialty. And anyone saying McCord is tabbed as Days guy should look at the big picture. All the coaches including Day basically "wished upon a star" that Brown would overtake him, they gave Brown well into the season to get more consistent. They mentioned his legs and energy as great attributes. I never heard that stuff about McCord. Day has dressed down McCord, in public, in over half the games this year. Day CAN'T STAND 1st half McCord. And I don't blame him.

Just watched his film and I couldn't be more impressed. Great feet, moves very well, and threw into some very tough windows.

Game reminds me of Baker Mayfield. Maybe because of the visor and number 6, but also because he gets out of trouble somehow a lot. Love this commit!

Welcome to the fam, Kyle. I like the Mayfield comparison, but I can also see a Matthew Baldwin comparison too. QBs who can move the pocket, escape the pass rush and put the ball on the money. I hope Day can also nab Harrison Jr. after getting McCord. I like the strategy of getting your top QB early and then build around him

I’ve always seen Baker Mayfield. Not just because of the #6, either.

I saw a bit of that in his film as well.

It was said, and said a lot about Kyle. Time flies.
Not sure what happened to his game. Could be the massive jump in talent at a P5 school

I am talking about the lead up to this season. Not high school. A lot of people knew the qb situation was bad when Day couldn't pick one. "If you have 2 qbs you have none" was a common phrase of worry before Indiana.

I don't know if its Days fault or McCord, but somehow he didn't progress as hoped. It happens. Hell every year in the NFL draft at least 1 qb is taken early that totally sucks. Kyle isn't horrible, just not OSU material IMO.

Ahh sorry, I misunderstood.
Yeah, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Because the writing was on the wall right before the season. Neither QB was good enough to win the starting spot. I can’t remember the last time that happened.

This ^^^^

Exactly my concern weeks ago.

Brown can run, but obviously his passing (and perhaps more) was even worse than McCord.

Some people mentioned that "if you have two, you don't have one" back in the pre season. The usual howls of protest were overwhelming.

Put me with Josh Perry in saying an OSU QB (or any position for that matter) who says The Game is just another game is dead to me.

Except he didn't say that. He actually said at the end of the day it was a football game and he needed to play up to his ability. Now, argue that he didn't do that, but let's not make shit up. (Not you Jax, everyone saying that)

See it for yourself

Arguing that he wasn’t implying that it’s like any other game is just being pedantic. And I don’t even blame Kyle for it. It’s clearly a mantra being passed along from the head coach.
