Ryan Day expects "more movement" both in and out for Ohio State in the transfer portal and did not commit to Kyle McCord as his starting quarterback going forward.

  • On whether the team's quarterback play was what it needed to achieve its goals: "When you come up short, you've got to look at everything, because you didn't get it done ... and we will look at everything."
  • Day wouldn't commit to whether or not Kyle McCord will be the team's starting quarterback next season, right now he's just focused on bowl preparation, he said. "That's a long way away right now. ... We've got to get back to work right now."
  • Day also isn't ready to say exactly how he'll deploy the team's quarterbacks in the Cotton Bowl. "Just not there yet."
  • Evaluating McCord from this season: "I think there were a lot of really good things this year. ... As time went on, Kyle got better as the season went on. ... So I think there was growth there for sure and I think he's a good quarterback, I do. After every year you evaluate everything and try to figure out what's next."

I wouldn't say I am happy, although i do think OSU can do better. I am not surprised one bit. McCord and Day seemed at odds alot on the sidelines this year.

I am not at the practices, so I don't know how the other QBs are progressing, nor what Day could have lined up in the transfer portal, but it's definitely a very interesting development.

Hopefully Lincoln is dominating in practice. If Brown announces soon then that will be my assumption.

Welp. for everybody complaining about the Bowl Game, it just got a whole lot more interesting, didn't it?
I have to believe that after Day's comments over the weekend about "expecting more movement in and out" that they must be pursuing Cam Ward hard and are confident in getting him.

Better hope Brown doesn't announce. With McCord gone that only leaves two QBs on the roster at the moment. Brown and Lincoln. Plus Gebbia who never saw a snap and is a Grad transfer who will be gone. Have to believe that the staff is confident on getting Ward from the portal, or someone else.

I don't think it was about the fans. This had to be coming from communication made by Day. In the presser yesterday, it certainly didn't seem like he was behind McCord.

The heat is on Day now, and if Day has no confidence, he isn't messing around.

I agree. I just thought Brown would be the one to enter the portal. Remember next year another top recruit in Noland comes in as well.
