QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

Listen this is just one Buckeye fans opinion. I like Kyle. Dude has the arm strength. Seems like a great kid. But for the purposes of winning championships (B1G and Natty) in the current state of College football he simply doesn't posses all the essential skills. McCarthy showed everyone what is needed. you have to be mobile. Whether that's in the pocket or out of the pocket and Kyle simply is not that QB. He'd set all kinds of records at a Big 12 school, MAC. Etc

Sincere question: Do you think the fact that Kyle had two ankle injuries and both his ankles were heavily taped had anything to do with his mobility? The fact that he was limping as he walked to the bus to head north?

Probably a little. But all the coaches said Brown was the better runner and he always looked pretty slow to me. McCord is not the most athletic.

Yes of course. But even 100% healthy Kyle doesn't have that as part of his game and that's an issue.

Because of his injuries I guess I'm not sure I would come to that conclusion. Not ready to give up on him. Let's also remember he was playing against one of the best defenses in CFB.
Once again just my opinion but there's nothing about McCords.history that says he is mobile at all. In or outside of the pocket. Ankle injury or not. and that's what is needed to win championships

I may be over interpreting body language, but it never seemed like he had a command and a comfort with what he was being asked to do. Tippy tappy feet, fading on throws, hitching, etc.

Beyond just the “talent” - the last three guys did what they were going to do with command and force. Letting it rip.

It’s in all our best interest that this bowl prep season he takes that step forward. Day tends to let his guy be the guy, but only if he trusts them and I don’t think he got there with McCord. Never really expanded the game plan for him over the course of the season… and I have to say feels like there wasn’t much development post ND game.

The bowl game (whichever one we end up in) won't matter in terms of outcome, so why not play Kyle, Devin and Lincoln to make a glorified scrimmage into at least an audition for our most important position? It's an open spot imo and might as well try to make the best of it.
