I’m a little surprised at how bad his footwork is with his time in the program. This is supposed to be Days bread and butter. If/when Kyke sets his feet and steps into his throws he looks solid. These throws off his back foot sail and he ends up putting the receiver in a bad position. He's improved mechanics away from being an elite QB. That's a big thing, I know, but the rest is there. It's impressive how many passes he can make off his back foot, but he's making it much harder than it needs to be.
Yeah, I definitely think this a part of it. Maybe this is why he wasn’t ready to hand him the job after the Spring.Maybe it's semantics but I don't look at it as a mechanical issue.
He's throwing off his back foot because he's anxious. Often times he's feeling pressure that isn't there. He's also late a lot which is a processing thing.
The game is just fast for him right now.

But, isn’t Day supposed to be a QB guru? Maybe he should’ve given him some real live opportunities last year during blowouts instead of a couple of garbage minutes handing the ball off. I squarely place this on Day.
You could have the best QB coach in the world but if the game is still going too fast for the player, it won't matter.Yeah, I definitely think this a part of it. Maybe this is why he wasn’t ready to hand him the job after the Spring.

No doubt these are all good points. Kyle definitely has solid moments and most of this is a confidence and trust issue. I have no problem with Kyle being our QB1. And I hope Day has learned from this situation. You could have the best QB coach in the world but if the game is still going too fast for the player, it won't matter.
It'll come - he's shown it. Ntre Ame, part of the Ped State game when it really really mattered, stuff like that. I'll take the dude that is nails in crunch time over the guy who is perfect when it's easy.
More experience would be nice but here we are. And let's remember this as well - CJ Stroud is criminally underrated by a lot of us for his time here. Clearly he was a virtuoso type QB. That's exceedingly rare.
Kyle doesn’t need to be CJ, he just needs to be a good distributor of the ball and a good game manager. He’s got the tools and he’s got the WRs and TEs to get it done. I fully expect he will. He’s shown he can, just need consistency at this point.Yeah, he could be more experienced if he got some time last year. No doubt.
I think some of it is like we saw at DE after going from Bosa to Bosa to Young. The next guy isn't always going to be a top 10 draft pick. Sometimes they are just normal players.
