QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

There’s been a lot of not good inbetween though. Hopefully he starts putting more complete showings together before the Michigan game, those bad stretches likely won’t go as well for us there.

I think we, as Buckeye fans, have been conditioned to have amazing quarterbacks to be "average". Above are McCord's stats per game. Point to a "bad" game. 239 yards, 0 td, 1 int is his worst game, and I would argue that it isn't "bad".

Before the season started, I wasn't overly confident that McCord was going to be "the guy". But if you tell me that he's going to average 277 yards a game, with a 12:1 touchdown-interception ratio, with wins over 2 top-10 teams through 7 games, I don't think I'm the only guy in the state who's happy with that performance.

The offensive woes are not on McCord. Here's the cause of the offensive troubles: 889 rushing yards. 127 yards per game. Even if you take out McCord's -31 yards, that's 920 yards, or 131 yards per game. Get that number up and we'll see two things happen: first, the points will hit the scoreboard at a rate Buckeye fans will find acceptable, and second, McCord's numbers will also become more acceptable to Buckeye fans.

i don’t take issue with him overall he definitely has what it takes, the slow starts are just a bit puzzling to me. Wonder if it’s something a bit psychological whwre he was to work through pressure or something.

I don’t know, it’s just interesting.

That's what I found puzzling against PSU. On the Bucks first drive of the game he was pretty much fire ( until the red zone problems reared their head) After that he fell way back and it didn't really make sense.
