QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

...

Interesting stat for the Toledo game:

CJ Stroud QB rating: 256.9
Kyle McCord QB rating: 256.6

Just sayin': There's no quarterback controversy at Ohio State; however, QB2 is pretty good too.

Stroud: 256.770
McCord: 256.571

That's a difference of 0.199, NOT 0.3. How DARE you minimize McCord's performance like that you Stroud-apologist!!! :pissed3:

We want CJ to develop chemistry with the new receivers

We want CJ to win the Heisman

We want the new guy to also get reps

We want all this Coach and we want it right now.

It's unfortunate that you took my post that way. My long history here shows that I'm not a negative Nancy. You can multi-task. I wasn't saying he needs more playing time. I was saying let's take advantage of the time he is in versus running out the clock.

I was totally joking although I was half serious on some reasons although Day wouldn’t admit to them all.

I too expected to see more of Kyle throwing it by now for what it’s worth.

A bit frustrating that Kyle hasn't been given the green light to throw the ball downfield at this point. Player development has to be a priority as well.

I am kind of in the same boat too honestly. There are only so many games we have the liberty of getting him live game reps throwing the ball. Lord forbid anything happen to Stroud, but I hope we are prepared if that happens. But then again, the same could apply to Dallan Hayden and getting him live rep carries with the depth at RB after Pryor went out for the season. All that being said, I do think we need to let Kyle sling it a bit more when he comes in and maybe get a 2 minute drill type of drive...may look like rubbing it in, but frankly I don't care and if the other team can't stop our backups, then that is on them.

But wasn't the same thing don with Stroud when he backed up Fields? It seems like OSU doesn't use their backups much in the passing game in garbage time. Haskins didn't pass much behind Barrett either

Correct, I attribute it to good sportsmanship and it has worked out overall, but it's not bad sportsmanship to have McCord throwing more aggressive passes to backups. If we have Stroud in up by 50 throwing deep passes, that is one thing. But any coach should understand developing a backup and getting them ready with live game reps, or they are just oblivious. Not directed at you obviously but it is a bit odd that we don't occasionally try some passes aside from a 5 yard out route when the backups come in.
