QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips)

Any comments that Herbstreit has on the entire situation should be prefaced by his public apology of recklessly naming players on national television last December, apparently based solely on a website that had also decided to name a few tOSU players that happened to have some tattoos. Not all of the players that Herbstreit named were involved with Rife or got tattoos from him.

The fact that he's never (to my knowledge) publicly apologized for incorrectly naming innocent Buckeyes on national TV shows a real lack of character on his part.

He hasn't...and his continued childish potshots at Pryor on national television just drive the point home. It's one thing if he's outspoken on every program, it's another when the only program he choses to have an opinion on is his alma mater. It's clear he has an axe to grind and he's either too dumb to hide it, or he just doesn't care. Where were his opinions on USC? On the Cam Newton payola scandal? Right, he didn't have one.

I didn't have a problem with anything Herbie said. I think his comments about some of our fans hit a little too close to home for some folks.

He defended JT's character but at the same time acknowledged what seems pretty obvious at this point: JT made a minor issue into a major one but not forwarding the emails to the compliance department. Whatever his intentions - only he knows for sure - it looks bad and it put us squarely under the NCAA microscope.

Had he acted immediately, we probably lose the guys for the first four games LAST season and this matter is over. It isn't Herbie's fault that JT chose not to do it.

It's not Pryor's fault either......but that didn't stop the douche from another shot at a kid half his age.

Herbstreit continues to dig his own grave. He will be anathema by most tOSU fans before it is all said and done. I can already see the smoke from the bridge he just burned with his recent comment swirling in the sky above.

:osu:

And here I thought Herbie was a Kenny Chesney fan. Sounds more Linkin Park to me.

Pryor had something to do with it. That's why he's suspended 5 games. Whether we think the rule is silly is irrelevant.

Yeah.....I don't see where Pryor comes up here.

Yes, this thread definitely shows how united we all are, engaging in corrupt groupthink on the subject. Clearly his latest hyperbole was wonderfully fair, accurate and not driven by anything.

You can't blame him, he probably gets all of his info on the fan base from the ESPN boards, they are the easiest to use after all. They are also notoriously good at driving people and their families from cities.

Herbie is a brilliant marketer. He's playing us all like a fiddle.

This is all designed to get the top of mind awareness for his name, then he reaches back into the dustbin of history, puts his spin on a "don't hate me because I'm beautiful" campaign and starts his second career as the Billy Mays of teeth whitener and hair products for men.

Watch.

Herbie = Shane Matthews.

Former Gator qb who is now an announcer, who got attention for dissing his former team's coach and offense. Herbie is just more visible/successful than Shane.

Our (Gator Nation) response was similar to yours: gave the benefit of the doubt to him until it became clear he had an agenda. He even whined about the blow back he got from the fans. Pathetic.
