QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips)

They also had Tim May on. He said basically...."this letter confirms what we thought already with a few small curves"

the curves he reffered to were clarification with Rife and his dealings with OSU. More details about Pryor's mentor were requested. More info about OSU's relationship with cicero.

I'm surprised they didn't have Hooley on instead of Tim May.

He got out of Columbus so he can unleash now...
He better not try that in Vols-in-tears country.

They will burn down your house, shoot your dog and bust up your still if'n you dog-cussed the Vols...

...actually, they might do that just for the Hell of it anyway. They do have a tradition that tOSU does not - the "Volunteer Navy" that sails to the stadium on game day.

So you stop recruiting the best player in the country every year because they may fuck up down the line? Couldn't a mediocre player fuck up too? Weren't all indications in the recruiting world that these were good kids. MoC had a 3.0 gpa solid SAT scores. No brushes with the law. Same with TP.

I wasn't really going for the recruiting advice angle. I just liked the shot at Pryor.

Quite frankly, I think Mr Pryor has earned some grief for his role in this mess. A lot more than he's gotten so far.

lol, just heard him say on espn how the entire fanbase is blindly supporting tressel and such....doucher just doesn't get it

A lot of it is, though.

Herbie hasn't been off-base with a lot of the stuff he's said about this.. he's been a little too blunt for OSU fans' liking. Probably shouldn't take shots at someone still playing at the school either, but that's his call.

I think you get my point, but it isn't about ripping just any team, it's about ripping the Bucks. His relationship with Tressel has been rocky, his relationship with past players is knowingly rocky, and current players think he is fake.

The animosity is about to be spilled over...I don't know how over-the-top it will get, but comments like tonight on Sportscenter in regards to Pryor and Clarret will become the norm.

If he wants to play Stewie Mandel and Mark May in regards to the Buckeye program he needed to leave Columbus. I believe his once under the radar trashing of the program that wasn't seen nationally is about to become "in your face on top of a soapbox" type commentary that will be seen as an insiders perspective into Ohio State football. He may even be considered a voice for Ohio State fans nationally, even though locals think he is a tool. But that is why Herbie is a "performer"....

I think the majority of Buckeye Nation has been pretty reasonable...most are ready for the punishment, and ready for whatever the NCAA hands out.

Just because a majority of Buckeye Nation doesn't want Tressel fired, doesn't mean we are blindly following him either.

I wanted the players suspended for the Fiests Bowl, I believe Tressel deserves a severe punishment, but I don't want dude fired.

I think less than 10% of Buckeye Nation feels Ohio State and Tressel deserve no punishment from the NCAA.

He's just playing his usual role IMO....

Yes.

I'm going to make an early disclaimer that agreeing with Herbie in the days/weeks to come on certain aspects of his pissing match with Pryor/Tressel doesn't mean I think Herbie is any less of a douche bag.

Heading to take the first of many showers now.

I'm not trying to say that if they don't think he should be fired, then they're blindly following him. I hear lots of people around campus who still think what he did was the right thing and that this entire thing is a giant conspiracy theory.

I find that very ridiculous. I still hear plenty of it. It's hard to tell what portion is like that.

If he used the words "entire fanbase," that's dumb.

It also seems that Herbie likes to treat Pryor as the sole contributor for all the problems. There were a bunch of players involved in this in this. He doesn't seem to trash Posey, Herron, or Adams. They are just as much at fault as TP.

He tried to play it both ways: trumpet his being the number one buckeye fan, and do his ESPN schtick - saying what his masters told him to say. I mean, he makes a ton of money doing his Espin thing, and I get that. But he annoys the hell out of me with his defense of his buckeyeness when he says some stuff that the locals will not like. Pick a side moron, buckeye or Talking Head. As much as I love my Gators, I would accept millions of dollars to travel to lots of games and occasionally say some snarky stuff about the Gators. If I did, I would not be crying about the fact that I [censored]ed the Gator Faithful off. My choice, as it were.

What annoys me more about Herbie is that he gets mad and hurt about people not liking his statements - that annoys me worse than what he says. I GET that he has to say stuff that is not always complimentary of his alma mater. He has to dump on y'all from time to time as a part of his job. So if he does, man up and defend what you say, and apologize when you are wrong.

He seems not to want to do either, just whine and play the victim.

I think it's different not wanting tressel fired vs following him blindly, from what ive seen majority know tressel fucked up and expect something to happen and deservedly so, the severity differs.
