QB Joe Burrow (transfer to LSU, 2019 Heisman Winner, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

Yet Burrows out-threw Haskins in the long ball competition. Although Haskins might have a slight edge in ball velocity
Thats great to win a competition during an exhibition. But I'm talking about in games. I believe coaches have even said that Haskins has the strongest arm. Being compared to Cardale Jones says a lot! I haven't seen that comparison once about Burrow from the staff or players. He's almost always compared to Barrett. And I'm not knocking Burrow, but Haskins has the arm on the team that can go deep

I've always been impressed with Burrow's arm strength, at least since his HS days, so maybe I'm just biased - but I feel that people credit Haskins for having great arm strength mostly based on the velocity he puts on the ball.

Based on HS film at least, I still believe that Burrow's deep ball is the best on the team. Not that my opinion is worth anything to anyone of significance.

Also, it's kind of a moot point since few offenses are built around the long ball.

I like Burrow a lot, and Haskins's arm strength isn't in question, but when I watch all four of our QBs in pregame warmups, by far the prettiest deep balls come off Tate Martell's hand.

Starting to think the same. I guess what bothers me is that he was supposedly ahead of Haskins, be hit by a very slight margin, when he broke the bone in his hand. I do not think that you should lose your position because of an injury.
there's losing your spot then there is working your way back into the rotation. He might be medically cleared but the bone might have some lasting affects that they want to be cautious about.

The future of Ohio State's QB room: Joe Burrow has no current plans to transfer while Dwayne Haskins leads the way

Ari Wasserman 15 hours ago

While J.T. Barrett was on the turf Saturday at Michigan Stadium after suffering his knee injury, Dwayne Haskins and Joe Burrow both warmed up on Ohio State's sideline. There was a moment of suspense as we waited to see which backup quarterback was going to get the chance to lead the Buckeyes in a crucial moment in the most crucial game of the regular season.

There was no suspense from Haskins or Burrow. Both knew Haskins was the backup.

After Haskins replaced Barrett in the third quarter with Ohio State trailing by a touchdown and led the Buckeyes to a dramatic win over their rival, he said he has been taking the majority of the reps with the second team and has basically known all year he's the backup quarterback.

A lot of minds shifted to Burrow: Is he transferring?

As of right now, no.

“At this time, Joe is focused on helping the Buckeyes win the Big Ten championship and plans on competing for the starting quarterback position in the spring,” Burrow's father, Jimmy, the defensive coordinator at Ohio University, told The Athletic on Sunday evening.

That could mean anything right now. Perhaps Burrow's plan is to come into the spring where there can be a full-fledged competition, gauge the situation and then transfer before summer if he doesn't like his placement. But as of right now, Burrow, the team's No. 3 quarterback, doesn't have any plan to leave the program.

Cont'd ...
