Day said he went into the game wanting Brown to get more playing time, but McCord was just starting to establish a rhythm and didn't want to take him out. That isn't dishonesty, it is smart game management and doing what is best for the team in the moment. And let's face it, we were in a dogfight for most of the game...if we were in control come 2nd quarter, the PT is likely split about equally. Now if we are throttling YSU and it doesn't happen, I will sing a different tune, though I don't want an every other drive scenario because a QB needs 2-3 consecutive drives to really give you an idea of what they can do and to have a fair chance.Conversely, if McCord is so fragile that he will check out or freak out if Brown is given 50% of the snaps in game 1, then perhaps McCord isn’t cut out for QB1 at OSU.
Day owes Brown an equal shot since he said they were basically equal…….or damn close to it.
I just wish Day would be up front rather try to be the smartest guy in the room. He isn’t.
