QB Devin "Utah" Brown (Official Thread)

Meh… this was 2 years ago when they both were unknown prolific recruits. Well before CJ Stroud was CJ Stroud. Not sure the point of a post from this long ago does.

We will see what happens today and going forward between the 2 QBs. Hate that it’s a competition this far into the season but it is what it is.
You asked for proof of him being a bad evaluator of talent, you were presented with him being wrong in the QB battle immediately prior to this one, you dismiss it as irrelevant.

This season firing?

Depends on how bad the season goes, specifically if he loses to tsun again and who the new AD is. He's getting fired eventually, just like all of them do.

If you want to make it this year then I'd say it's no more than 25-30% chance as we sit here today so give me +300 and name the amount.

9-3 with a loss to Tsun enough for a firing? Still think that's the worst case scenario.

It very well could. Who knows?

It would move him a hell of a lot closer to it that's for sure. Then what is the new AD like? Does he have his own guy and look at it as a chance to make a move? Does he not want to rock the boat?

Day has a tsun problem and he has a I-just-lost-my-boss-who-didn't-care-about-that problem.

I'm hoping he just fucking wins and ends the conversation for this year.

Doesn't Gene not step down until July 2024 though?

Seems 2024 would be the make or break year with the new AD.

I thought it was this year but wasn't really paying attention.

If Gene is staying then there is no way he fires Day no matter how bad it gets. He's checked out and already on record as saying he doesn't care about The Game.

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith is retiring at the end of the 2023-24 academic year, he announced Wednesday morning. Smith, who has led the Buckeyes' athletic department since March 2005, will step down effective June 30, 2024

If you watch the clip and put it into its context, you’ll understand my dismissal. The entire scope was post-spring game, not fall camp. Zach Smith talked about there still being 3+ of practice to go, and that Stroud had seniority (which we know Day factors) and had already underwent a ton of growth McCord hasn’t yet. He was wrong about McCord being the guy going into fall, but again the context is from a god showing at spring ball, not 2 weeks before season opener.

I stand by that the guy who gave Florida and Ohio State NFL receivers and championships is a solid judge of offensive talent.

I’m good for a hundo among friends

Day won’t be fired

He will head to NFL before that would happen

He's not getting fired this year no matter what he does short of some crazed HR meltdown because Gene isn't leaving until next June so it will have to be an extendo bet amongst friends.

I don't disagree that if he sees the writing on the wall he may resign instead of being fired. If he loses more than 2 and another one to tsun he's going to feel some heat to do whatever. I think we can all agree on that.

I guess a bad on my end but I understood your intimation to be that he would be fired after this season if we lost to scUM.

Yeah. I said it poorly. I’m of the opinion he gets fired like they all do. I agree with @ShowMeBuck though, Day has an NFL exit that we haven’t seen of any of our coaches prior.

That said, he loses to tsun again then shortly thereafter has a new boss it could happen. Gene will never do it in his last 9 months on the job. I agree with anyone on that.
