If I saw a PS3 at any store I'd be obligated to go buy it. I mean I don't really want/need one right now, but the profit that you could make by selling it would be very hard to turn down.
Not much profit being made on these resells over the past 2 weeks. Many ebayers have been expressing how they are only making about $30-$50 after taxes, auction fees, and shipping costs.

The Wii has been much more profitable for them so far.

the ps3 60gb is still selling for $800-1000 on ebay, if you can find one in the store they are around 650. taxes, fees, ect, you can still make a few hundred best case. after the first of the year it wont be that way anymore. i'm waiting for the wii - maybe in march when 2006 bonuses are paid

"Best case" being the key phrase. I just took a quick look at auctions ending the soonest, and didn't see any bids over $750. The resellers on slickdeals.net have been complaining about this for the past few weeks. A number of them are returning them to stores rather than risk taking losses on their auctions. A fair number of slickdeals posters are also claiming that the PS3s are often seen on store shelves now.

Another part to some of the higher winning bids, is that a lot of them have been won by non-payers. Or the winning bidder would win multiple auctions, and then only buy one system, which would then force the seller to relist their PS3. There have also been a large number of winning bidders that are scammers, with unconfirmed addresses and such. These also force relistings, So just beause it looks like a lot auctions made good money, the reality is that many didn't. You can read all about this here.

Another good indicator is going to Craig's list. A lot of PS3 sellers aren't even finding buyers in the $750 range. PS3s should be easy to find soon, especially after Christmas is over.

The place I work got 8 in on Monday, along with about 40 DS....the DS sold out before the PS3 did. Then Yesterday we had 2 returned because people could sell them for enough. The Wii get asked for much more often than the ps3 at this point.

We have 2 of them at the store right now, course they are probably both gone as I type this, but we got 6 in yesterday, and for the first time, we didnt sell them all in like 10 minutes.

big ruckus with the Wii... they had to recall them because the strap was breaking, and people were literally throwing the controller through their TVs... i saw a pic of a controller sticking out of a plasma screen. :yow2:

Well yeah because it's only $250. We have never had a PS3 returned yet, to my surprise. I personally think the Wii is a POS...........just like the gamecube, not a damn decent game on the system, and I seriously doubt there will be.

I have no doubt that is part of it...I think that is one of the reasons that the ds lite took off this year and you can't find them. parents telling their kids they will get them a ds lite instead of a wii or a ps3. as for the returns those were the first two I have seen returned, and both people told me they returned them because they couldnt sell them and make enough money on ebay.

A brand new 60gb just sold on eBay for $700. I watched the auction tick down. There are a lot of BuyItNow's for 800-1200, but nobody is bidding on them.
bought one w/ 2 games and extra controller for $810 last week. He sent me the receipt and he paid around $780 everything. He e-mailed me and said after the listing he made about $3 on it.
