Preseason and Regular Season Polls (2015)

I think Bama/Clemson and Ohio St/Notre Dame maximizes TV eyeballs. Hypothetically, if that were the top 4 at the end, you come out of the board room with: 1. Ohio State, 2. Clemson, 3. Alabama, 4. Notre Dame for seeding to make more money, even if you don't believe that's the actual order on merit.

Already seen Ohio St play Bama and Clemson the last two bowl seasons...

Also, Clemson has the offense to give Bama's D nightmares. Unstoppable force vs immovable object.

Ohio State vs Notre Dame is arguably the two biggest brands in college football which have only played five times. That matchup would likely break all the ratings records.

And yeah, OSU Bama already happened last year.

I'd be licking my chops over that...
I haven't watched Clemson much, and not relishing the idea of Henry and Bama's front 7 while we're still figuring out the QB issue ... but the King of being Over-rated ? It's been too long since Hawk nailed Brady and his sister...

If Ohio state makes it through the end of their schedule unscathed, there is no way they aren't number one.

I tend to agree with this. All of OSU's signature games are ahead of them, and the Committee has some incentive to avoid a matchup between OSU and Clemson/Bama for the reasons outlined above. If everyone wins out, i see a finish of 1. OSU 2. Clemson 3. Alabama 4. Notre Dame/Baylor/Okie State.

I think so. As for #4, I think it'll be Notre Dame, conference championship or not.

Same reason I was confident Ohio State would get in over the Big 12 contenders last year.

OSU has, by far, the highest ranked future opponents in the CFB poll.

Iowa at #5 (and counting) is the ace in the hole for OSU seeding wise
If they play dominant football in the next 3 games, there is a chance to get to the #1 spot without anyone else losing. If they just win, I see us as #2 or 3, so that really doesn't matter. Maybe 10% chance either Clemson or Bama will drop a game. Winning out, we won't be any lower than 3, so it looks like a game against Bama is most likely.

I don't think it will have to be all that dominant personally but we shall see.

CFP committee has shown they aren't like ESPiN shills and are willing to move teams right up until the end.

Clemson schedule was front loaded and they finish with Wake Forest, USC east and North Carolina in the CCG while OSU is going against scUM State, scUM and Iowa.

On a related note, the Florida vs FSU game will be interesting because it could dent the body of work for either Clemson or Bama.

I dunno, I just am not ready to say Clemson is #1 for sure while OSU has CFP #5 left on the schedule the day before the final vote.

Whether tOSU is #1 or #4 is immaterial. Just so long as we're not #>5.

I frankly would not look forward to playing an Alabama team motivated by revenge in the first round, all things being equal. And while all teams involved in the playoff picture at this juncture have top talent at the skill positions, i think Bama is the only team who can match our on-field talent across the board. Of the 3 teams currently in the committee's top 4, i'd want to play ND, Clemson and then Bama, in that order.
