I was referring to the statement that a championship is not going to happen. I know what you mean. A 10-2 team that goes to a big 6 game or whatever the hell it's called is not a "doomed" season, but since your post was referring to title chances specifically that is what my "doomed" comment was towards. title chances being doomed. Ole Miss and Utah have the best resumes right now. Think about that. You scared that OSU won't win a title because Ole Miss and Utah are going to win it all?

No, it's because we haven't done anything to say we deserve a top 5 ranking, let alone #1. Last year we had a 2 game slump that ended in a loss. The team came out after that kicking the shit out of people....which proved to me they just needed a kick in the ass. We're getting to the point where these 3 games against garbage teams aren't just a slump. I always excuse a game against a non conference cupcake as the team just not giving a shit.....and then the following week against a second cupcake they go out and put up 50 points. Well, that isn't happening this year. 3 sleep walks in a row against teams that should have been out of it by halftime. Now it's B1G season, and the teams who are sick to death of hearing about Ohio State are on the schedule. Indiana's offense is serious enough to do damage. Penn State's defense as well. Lose to MSU after all these sleepwalks and we don't even need to worry about it....it's too late at that point.

But if you watched this team for 4 weeks and come away thinking they're going undefeated, good for you. Because after 12-0, we actually do have to play somebody. Maybe that somebody is Ole Miss or Utah. Maybe it's LSU. Maybe it's Georgia. Whoever it is, they're actually going to be good. I haven't seen anything outside of the 1st and 3rd quarter of VT that tells me we're one of the 4 best teams in the country.

What did Florida State do last season that warranted the #1 ranking all season long, until the final week?

Defending national champion, underwhelming performances to start the season, and stayed number 1.

They made it to final 4 based solely off of being the defending national champion. Difference being, Ohio State has a coach, Florida State has a babysitter.

The general perception change when it comes to the defending national champion has clearly changed. They gave Florida State a free pass, and kept them in the top 4. If you think Ohio State doesn't deserve to be in the Top 5, that's fair. But the pollsters will keep them there as long as they are undefeated.

I would also be interested to see who you think is better than Ohio State at this point in the season, as there haven't been many teams that have looked to be a force.. Hard to bump Ohio State for an MSU team who gives up 450 yards a game on defense. Same goes for TCU. UCLA has looked pretty good, but it took a 4th quarter comeback to beat a BYU team that just got pantsed by Michigan..

I don't doubt Ohio State will be there if they're undefeated. That doesn't mean they deserve it, though. Florida State certainly didn't.

This year. In one of your previous posts you said Ohio State hasn't done anything to deserve a top 5 ranking. Please name 4 or 5 teams that should be ahead of Ohio State.

A 13-0 defending champ OSU may not deserve to be in this year's playoff?? If they're undefeated in mid-December, they'll 100% abso-freakin-lutely deserve to be there, especially this year when the field is wide open and no way are there 5 major-conference champs all undefeated at that point.
