Preseason and Regular Season Polls (2015)

College football rankings: Ohio State still No. 1 in AP, Coaches Polls, make history atop AP Top 25

The Ohio State Buckeyes remained atop the AP and Amway Coaches Polls for Week 5 after appearing to be somewhat closer to what they showed the nation they were capable of at the end of last year in a 38-12 victory over Western Michigan. The Buckeyes received 45 of 61 first place votes in the AP Poll, and 61 of 64 first place votes in the Coaches Poll.

With their No. 1 AP ranking, the Buckeyes are atop the poll for the 100th time in school history. They join the Oklahoma Sooners as the only other school to hold that coveted No. 1 spot 100 times.

My top 4 since you are all dying to know...

1. Ole Miss (they'll lose somewhere down the road)
2. ND
3. UCLA
4. Ohio St/Sparty/LSU/Utah (any of the 4 would work here)
How is Notre Dame ahead of us? The teams they've beaten have a combined record of 4-11. What's their best win?

Beat Texas 38-3 (Texas is 1-3)
Beat Virginia 34-27 (Virginia is 1-3, with no wins against FBS teams and was ape-fucked by Boise State)
Beat Georgia Tech 30-22 (GT is 2-2, with a 34-20 loss at Duke)
Beat Massachusetts 62-27 (0-3, with a 48-14 loss to a Colorado team that lost to Hawaii)

Just based off of my unprofessional personal eye test, I think they have a strong D and survived an injury that could have derailed their season - instead leading to the type of bonding we saw with the Bucks last year.

I can see the rallying around the injury to Zaire, but their defense hasn't been as impressive as some think, especially considering their opposition so far. Here's their defense standings after four games:

Total: #38
Rush: #24
Pass: #62
Score: #29

Not saying Notre Dame is a bad team nor that they aren't worthy of a fairly high ranking. But, are they the number two team in the country? Nope...

They gave up 27 points to a team who got motor boated by Truck Driver U... I'm not saying you're wrong, but you're wrong..

I'm not even going to give it a link but Pat Forde is up to his old tricks.

Has his 4 teams in the playoffs and he not only leaves OSU out, he leaves the Spartans out as well.

His 4:
Ole Miss
LSU
UCLA
Utah

You can't make this stuff up
If Iowa was in the SEC with the same record, they would be ranked in the top 10. Stanford is ranked behind USC, a team they throttled on the road. Makes no sense at all. Poll bias is ridiculous.

I'll take it farther...
Ohio State, MSU, Indiana, Northwestern, and Iowa would all be top-15.

Pretty funny that all 4 of his teams face eachother. Ole Miss and LSU play. As do Utah and UCLA.
Clueless.

I'm as big of a homer as anyone but you guys crack me up with your criticisms of other teams in the top 10 range as if OSU doesn't have a lot of weakness so far. The truth is that its early in the season and nobody has separated themselves from the pack right now and looked awesome. If the season ended right now and you wanted a realistic chance at figuring out a true champion you would need at least an 8 team playoff. And seeding them wouldn't be easy either. Yes it's early but based on eye test alone there doesn't look to be a huge disparity between the top 8-10 teams. I say eye test because the sample size of results on the field is way too small, but 4 games in and I'm surprised this year at how little drop off there appears to be in the top group of teams. There are several teams that look like they could win it all and yet every one of them has shown some flaws, have had been injury prone, etc. The back half of the season will weed out the weak links but it still seems like most years you could point to at least one or two teams that you just know will be a contender. This year? Not so much.

Who wins the PAC 12? Last year easy money on Oregon at this point. Who wins the SEC? Last year at this point wasn't perfectly clear but smart money would have been on Bama....this year is clearly more wide open. The ACC winner has more uncertainty at this point than last year when, despite close victories you could sense FSU would be the champ. I'd say the Big 10 and Big 12 are just about the same as last year with regards to uncertainty at this point so that's a wash. And then you have the Domers who seem to be more on track for a shot than last year at this point.
