Predictions for 2014 season

There are a handful of teams that you can probably pick 3 of the play off spots from. There is another handful that you can pull from with a legit chance of landing that 4th spot. Then there is a final group who has a good chance of playing for their conference championship game and if all goes perfectly, no injuries, etc. they might have a shot at the playoffs. I put tOSU somewhere between the second and third category, closer to the third.

What the hell is wrong with people? 3 losses is going to be ok? When has that ever been the preseason hopes for an Ohio State football team?
Good lord how far has the sky fallen.

Personally I'm at 2, but I think it's realistic. Four would be a major disappointment imo.

Did you miss the last 3 games last year? Without seeing how the defense actually plays, it's hard not to be skeptical.
This team is loaded with potential. It's basically the first year of Urban's guys pushing into the lineup... and that's exciting on its own... but a lot of youth and question marks too.
A lot of position battles early in the season and I suspect the team we see at the end may be a lot better than the team we see at the beginning as the cream rises to the top. Can we really say JT is the best QB right now either? I would not be surprised with a repeat of Zwick/Smith... not trying to start a QB controversy or anything, but we really don't now what we have until they take the field. There's a lot of question marks at the beginning of this season and there will be position changes as the cream rises to the top.

I expect this team to beat MSU and finally win the B10, but the shadow council isn't going to put us in the playoff unless we're undefeated. They'll be under enormous pressure to put 2 SEC teams in and they're mostly Yes men.

IMO this is the year that sets us up for a NC next year as almost the entire defense and offense returns. So I'm just going to enjoy the process and development flesh itself out on the field, and if they go undefeated then all the more reason to be happy.

Navy or Virginia Tech is going to beat us  I mean I do not wear scarlet colored glasses and I do not follow the Buckeyes as close as some of you but I do know a little bit about football and I think you guys who have predicted that we will lose a nonconference game might be overthinking or something:smash:

I'm just taking it one game at at time (bet you've never heard that before ). The talent is obviously there, but so many unknowns at this point to really say how the season will go. I definitely expect a win vs. Navy, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a close game. Tricky offense...I'm glad it's week 1 and not week 5 or 6 as others have stated...with a very talented QB (I remember thinking he was pretty damn good last year when I watched a few of their games). Only prediction I'll make for now is...... 38-21, Bucks over the Midshipmen.

I'm definitely more nervous about Navy now with Braxton out, mostly because of the unknown point production we will see. There is no doubt that Navy will have some success running the ball, they have a lot of talent in the backfield...and yes, Reynolds is the best QB I have seen at Navy (I saw a few of their games last year and watched a rerun recently). Having extra preparation will undoubtedly help us but you still cannot replicate their offense on scout team. I like your prediction but I will go 31-21, pulling away at the last minute with a field goal. All the above combined with an away game, no Braxton to hit big plays when we need them, and the first game of the season could be the perfect storm for an upset. I don't think it will happen but I would not be shocked.
