Predictions for 2014 season

This year, I wasn't convinced that Ohio State was a national title contender with Braxton Miller ... and I'm also not convinced that Ohio State is out of national title contention without Braxton Miller.

As was discussed yesterday by Axelrod and other OSU writers via social media, this season's run without Braxton pretty much fits Bill Simmons' "Ewing Theory" to a 't'.

  1. A star athlete receives an inordinate amount of media attention and fan interest, and yet his teams never win anything substantial with him (other than maybe some early-round playoff series).

  2. That same athlete leaves his team (either by injury, trade, graduation, free agency or retirement) -- and both the media and fans immediately write off the team for the following season.

E!SPiN has written us off for the year.
It's gonna be fun watching them eat crow.

Indeed! as they just covered CJ's press conference live. Who knew CJ would lead the Bucks to the promised land? Again, thank you Ted Ginn, Sr. Hey, CJ was the back-up to Braxton before JT beat him out before the season started so they were fairly even in talent.

2014 has to be the most unique season for a championship team in NCAA history.

I'm all about JT but let's not forget about Cardale. I saw him run last year and he's too big a threat not to use him, as well. I can see Urban going with a Leak/Tebow-type of combo and, uh, that worked out pretty well for him. Fcuk espin.

This ^^^ btw it's fun to look back after a season like this because there will never be another season like this. It's gonna be a longgg off season for all the Buckeye haters. Bless their little hearts ...

So nice it must be posted twice!

I was right about something! Yay me.

In defense of my omniscience, LordJB quoted me, and the context in my mind was "if they go 12-0, it will be because (this and that happens)". One of those things was that the defense never gives up more than 23 points - because I couldn't see the OSU offense being held under 24 points on a bad day. I was absolutely disgusted by the 2013 defense's performance, and while I was hopeful of improvement, I did not actually believe that Ohio State would hold every opponent under 23 points - which they didn't.

So, my omniscience is semi-intact. :roll2:
