I generally just ignore the things that I find annoying or to be typical message board BS, this interaction notwithstanding.More likely is a realist's approach in a sea of typical message board BS where 80-90% of everything sucks if it's not "us". If you haven't noticed it, then yeah, you're part of the cult. Onward and upward.
Ok.I generally just ignore the things that I find annoying or to be typical message board BS, this interaction notwithstanding.
Why all the hate for Franklin? He had the one incident with players, in which he dismissed them all from the team. Other than that, what else has happened under his watch?
I do not think there is any hate for Franklin here. I just want them to hire one of their own. Maybe Mike Munchak or somebody like that. Why all the hate for Franklin? He was the second choice at Vandy after the HC was forced out and Malzhan turned them down.
He's 24-15 overall and 11-13 in conference play. He uses a healthy dose of UMass and other OOC cream puffs to get Bowl eligible per SEC regulations.
We shall see but I'm not quite ready to skip to his HOF induction speech just yet.
Ok.
I generally agree with the overall notion that I could or should ignore the noise - and believe it or not - I do. Shoot, I disagree with far, far more than I voice my opinion on. Message boards generally offer some of the worst sides of people because of the anonymity and I'm sure that is why there is so much anti-everything on them. I wish there was a lot less of it... Meanwhile, I generally only correspond on Buckeye Planet and avoid all other forums because it shows promise if being more than that. So I post here and often post wishing for a bit more perspective and sanity because - again - this board and it's people are rare in that they've shown to be capable of more. But in the end, as I see more and more posts about me or someone else being "contrarian"I guess I realize that this board doesn't necessarily want to be broader than it is. And that's ok too; it's not my board so it doesn't have to bend to my liking. It just means that I should take a hiatus for a good period. So I'll prolly do that.
I don't think anyone is hating on Franklin. I think people are saying (at least the ones that I agree with) that he probably isn't going to make Penn State elite again. Hell, even a "legend" like Joe Paterno didn't have Penn State at an elite level for nearly two decades.
Why all the hate for Franklin? He had the one incident with players, in which he dismissed them all from the team. Other than that, what else has happened under his watch?
He did that at Vanderbilt - 24-15 at Vandy is impressive regardless. It is the ceiling for that program.
In my IMO, There is a gulf of difference between elite and 7-5 which I thought I saw bantered. I said he'd win there, more than the monkey going 7-5 but not necessarily at a elite level, although I'm willing to concede that he could be elite...who knows right? I just found it disappointing that Franklin has been largely considered a good coach, but now that he's in PSU's hand, he's meh. Just me.Meh, I still think it's pretty easy to ignore people and specific conversations that annoy you, although everyone gets wrapped up in things every once in awhile.
It seemed to me like you've been picking fights with people lately which is why I said something. I could be wrong about that.
As I said above, what I've taken from the Franklin conversation is this:
If someone is saying something other than that I haven't noticed, probably deliberately.
So it sounds like the Paterno culture is truly dead if Ped State is going to ruin Vandy's weekend.
Less than 11 months before the start of the 2013 season, Vanderbilt officials backed out of scheduled games against Northwestern and Ohio State, informing both Big Ten programs through letters sent through the U.S. Postal Service. No phone call. No email. No text message. Not even FedEx, which is actually based in Tennessee.
