Given what he and his wife have lived through with their young son (who suffers from severe developmental disabilities) and how well he has handled viciously adverse media scrutiny, O'Brien comes off as a very likeable guy who seems like an excellent leader. Props to his wife, too, for leaving a promising law career to care for their son Jack.
O'Brien: A beacon in the gloom
His team is going to need all the emotional stability and leadership that O'Brien can muster over the next few years. Hope the inbred fanbase can learn some positive lessons from him as well.
Read that article and I became a fan of Bill O'Brien. He and I are the same age and I have 3 children and I don't know what I would do if I had to face that type of adversity.
In my opinion he is handling this the right way. He said when he and his wife found out that their son was ill, that was tough day, not the day when PSU received the sanctions.
It really seems to me that he might be too sane and level headed for that fan base.
Based on what I've seen so far he's the right man for that particular job. The mutant fans make it very tough to root for that team, but I am rooting for Bill O'Brien.
