Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Interrupting the hatefest, the Dispatch had a nice story this morning about PSU head coach Bill O'Brien. Given what he and his wife have lived through with their young son (who suffers from severe developmental disabilities) and how well he has handled viciously adverse media scrutiny, O'Brien comes off as a very likeable guy who seems like an excellent leader. Props to his wife, too, for leaving a promising law career to care for their son Jack.

O'Brien: A beacon in the gloom

His team is going to need all the emotional stability and leadership that O'Brien can muster over the next few years. Hope the inbred fanbase can learn some positive lessons from him as well.

Read that article and I became a fan of Bill O'Brien. He and I are the same age and I have 3 children and I don't know what I would do if I had to face that type of adversity.

In my opinion he is handling this the right way. He said when he and his wife found out that their son was ill, that was tough day, not the day when PSU received the sanctions.

It really seems to me that he might be too sane and level headed for that fan base.

Based on what I've seen so far he's the right man for that particular job. The mutant fans make it very tough to root for that team, but I am rooting for Bill O'Brien.

I refuse to be a fan of anyone previously or currently connected to Ped State, but hopefully, for his sake, what he has to endure in that shithole won't affect him going forward in terms of job opportunities and personally.

This right here. Right now, they love him, but there are a few grumblings about the ribbons and names on the uniforms, not speaking out publicly in support of JoePed, no JVP on the helmets this year. Still a tiny minority, but I really think when the blowout losses start coming, they'll turn on him hard.

and a huge booster (who is in the sports agency business) just spoke to the team yesterday, which some fans aren't too happy about.

He's not Joe Paterno. He's fucked. So is the guy that replaces him. So is the guy that replaces the guy that replaces him.

I wonder how long they'll give him until he becomes the scapegoat for the program having a losing record for the next few years?

Given the situation, it'd seem that they ought to give him at least 5 or 6 years before looking elsewhere.

Ok, disclaiming the fact that I'm drinking and on vacation...

What the FUCK? It's fall ball in Columbus. We are in fucking training camp. We have fucking Urban Fucking Meyer as our head coach... Luke is still our DC, we have an incredible coaching staff and a group of kids who are likely to play at a level they've never played in their lives, yet we continue to populate a thread about coaches from another team who were highly derelict in their duties? Not to take away from the gravity of the scale of their colossal fuck up, but it's Buckeye Time.

Jesus, it's time for all of us to fucking walk away from the pedos and focus on all the great things that are starting in the 43210.

Pointing fingers at others shortcomings is something that little brothers do. We are THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY. We are Buckeyes. Fuck the rest of 'em.

That is all...
