Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-fo...usky-mark-emmert?eadid=EL/SICOM&sct=hp_t11_a4

Our good friend Matt Hayes takes the opportunity to tie in the Ohio State scandal to child rape. All in good fun I'm sure.

Excuse me if I can't get excited about an organization that saw Ohio State players accept cash in envelopes after coach Jim Tressel's lies and illegal benefits for players were exposed, but said lack of institutional control wasn't an issue.

We're talking about a legitimate serious issue and this [censored]ing asshole decides to take another shot at Ohio State. And, among other things, makes [Mark May] up.

EDIT: I've said it before but any comparisons are an insult to the serious nature of what happened at Penn State. This blatant attempt to get one more poke at Ohio State (just for, I'm guessing, the hell of it and to, of course, troll) is beyond unprofessional. I've thought that the sports media would realize the gravity of what they are dealing with and how it dwarfs anything they've seen before; maybe open their eyes up to their absurd hyperbole addressed at any other sports scandal before it. But no. Not this bitch.

Audibles is like a post-apocolyptic wasteland right now. They're eating eachother alive, still defending Dear Leader against the trolls, bemoaning how "unfair" all of this is, the mods are still saying there are no FACTS...they're showing their ass right now.

$30 Million fine.......

http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/22/us/penn-state-paterno-statue/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

Penn State University will be hit with fines in excess of $30 million as part of "significant, unprecedented penalties" expected to be announced Monday by the National Collegiate Athletic Association, a source familiar with the case told CNN on Sunday.
While the school's football program will not face the so-called "death penalty" that would have prevented the team from playing in the fall, the school might have preferred a one-year suspension because of the severity of the scholarship losses, postseason sanctions and other penalties, the source said.

I bet most of the Penn Stater's are forgetting that the violations are just the tip of the iceberg. They still have to worry about the DOE for the clery act violations. From the Chi Tribune:
The DOE is seeking school records from 1998 to 2011, a 13-year span in which Sandusky, a former assistant football coach, sexually abused boys in campus showers amid what investigators say was a cover-up by the university to shield its reputation.
It's funny how their saint will be the death of their university.

Most amusing is the "call to arms". The repeated suggestion that they must do something. Sue the NCAA. Sue the BOT. Sue Erickson. Enough!

Is it possible the the NCAA will cripple PSU to such an extent that they will become a drain on the BIG, and aren't even economically viable as a member institution? I ask this not as a sole reason, but possibly in addition to whatever the BIG presidents already might have on their plates. Or at the very least can the BIG make sure that PSU will not receive any shares of bowl money earned by other schools, if not completely remove them from the BTN revenue stream?
