Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Jeebus, talk about a slippery slope.

Yeah, I mean, not that anyone here would cry, but, most of the SEC is repeat offenders... I mean, now they have to tell the truth and not negatively recruit against each other. I mean, what if Saban can't tell a kid they've won 400 national championships and that Auburn is a bunch of snakes. Come on.

(And as to the negative recruiting/cheater branding aspect, I'd say, should/when football continues at Penn State... uh, yeah, it's probably time to pay the piper)

Email is going to be the death of JoePa's legacy. Back in the day you wouldn't write any of that [Mark May] down. If you did, you swallowed the piece of paper after you were done. They might still find it later but you could damn sure bet no one wanted to read it.

Hang in there, Joe. I'll be joining you and that crazy sonofabitch Knute, soon!

That letter is going to be much more of a problem for PSU going forward than Jay ever anticipated when he wrote it.

And to anyone who thinks Joe actually wrote it I invite you to reread the letter and then watch this video from just before he took keyboard in hand.

Joe Paterno's Final Public Address (After Being Fired) - YouTube

One thing that is really driving me crazy....I keep seeing stories saying that the family has 'confirmed' it as being written by Paterno.

The family is claiming Paterno wrote it that is a very different thing than it being 'confirmed' as such.

I don't always agree with his content... but Jason Whitlock has written too very thought provoking articles this week.. that wreak with sense

Sexism played role in Penn St. horror

A problem far greater than Penn State
http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefoo...ig-money-ncaa-athletics-playoff-system-071112

The first article is probably spot on but the second one is a disgusting attempt by Whitlock to intertwine a sex abuse scandal in with his noted agenda against a playoff system. How do you end a column about something like this with "but enjoy your playoffs"? And I sometimes like Jason Whitlock.

Too many people are exploiting the sad state of affairs in Happy Valley as an excuse to trump up arguments about other sport issues that interest them. Stop. They have no relevance.

Soooo.... what you're saying is... the NCAA should bust them for creating a rosier picture for recruits than the reality?

Yeah the reality in this case was that a child rapist was being actively concealed... It's a little different than the stuff the SEC is concealing to lure recruits. I think most rational folks can agree to that.

Wake me up when Nick doesn't want to leave coaching world to the Barry Switzer's and Jackie Sherill's and then at the same time hides a rapist so that it doesn't hurt Bama's recruiting...

Well, right, most rational folks can agree to that. You know, which is why there are criminal investigations/prosecutions going on and stuff, you know, for perjury and the like.
