BG Blog with Chris Reed

Chris Reed, a sophomore defenseman of the Ohio State men?s hockey team, blogs from the team?s trip to face instate foe Bowling Green this weekend. The Buckeyes and Falcons will meet at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the BGSU Ice Arena.

Thursday
Today began with a somewhat early wakeup compared to my other days of the week. I woke up at around 8:30 to head to class by 9:30 and was attending class and making up homework before the weekend. After class, I rode my bike home in the freezing cold, nervous the whole time I was going to hit a patch of ice and faceplant into the pavement.

Friday (post-game) and Saturday
After the win on Friday night, we stayed at the rink to eat our post game meal. This meal was sponsored by the Ohio State Alumni Association from the Bowling Green and Toledo areas. It?s awesome that Ohio State has alumni all over the country, especially in Ohio. We had salad, lasagna, and cheesy bread as well as a nice table of desserts. I caught Corey Toy and Shane Sims sneaking over to the dessert table a couple times, and should have taken a picture on my cell phone to send to Coach Glass (our strength and conditioning coach) so he can keep them in line.

After missing half of the first period because of weather we got to watch another great Buckeye Hockey win. It was a night of clankers, I believe I counted 3 for the buckeyes along with one puck landing on top of the net. Buckeyes were up 3-2 and BG got one to bounce in to tie it up with about 2 min's left to play.

Kyle Reed came thru in OT with a sweet shot and another buckeye victory.

Great job with the buckeyes sweeping BG and getting 4 points this weekend. They're now sitting 3 points behind Alaska in 5th place 8-5-1 (15-6-1). 1 spot away from that top 4 bye with lots of hockey left to play.

Kyle Reed?s Overtime Goal Gives Ohio State 4-3 Win and Series Sweep of Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio ? The Ohio State men?s hockey team completed a series sweep of Bowling Green with a 4-3 overtime win Saturday in the BGSU Ice Arena. The Buckeyes led 3-2 at the end of the second period and carried the lead until the Falcons tied the game with nine seconds left in regulation. Kyle Reed won it for the Buckeyes, putting in the rebound of a Corey Toy shot at 2:44 of the extra period. John Albert also assisted on the goal, his career-best third helper of the game.

The win moves the Buckeyes? winning streak to 10 games and improves the team?s record to 15-6-1 and 8-5-1-1 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Bowling Green drops to 7-12-3 and 4-9-1-0. Ohio State won the opener, 8-5, Friday.
