4 points in the last four games. Very good. We're on pace to get the 10 points that should get us a first round bye. I'd still be more comfortable with a sweep against Sparty to compensate for a possible letdown against Michigan or Fredo.

I know that spearing is a really cheap shot but do you really think he should have been punished by Markell. I think that he knows his "selfishness" cost his team the game and I would think that would be punishment enough to have to look at your teammates after the loss.

I see what you're saying on an individual level. Unfortunately, he represents a program and an institution. As such, there should be some formal repercussions for his actions.

This kid is fun to watch and really feeds the team with his energy and style of play. Hope he doesn't bolt for the NHL after this season.

Congrats Dalpe another well deserved CCHA rookie of the week.

On the Road with Zac Dalpe

Day 1 - Thursday
My Thursday morning started off with an early phone alarm at 7:45. After a bowl of oatmeal and some milk I stole from my roommate schneidzy (Cory Schneider), I was off to Younkin Success Center to meet with John Macko to schedule classes for the upcoming quarter. I walked out of his office with a smile on my face because I knew I was taking a break from math (finally) and was eager to explore the exciting life of sociology? That was followed up by two hours of English, then math, then back to the dorms to do some last-minute packing.

Buckeyes tie 1-1 and lose in the shoot out.

Got to give credit to Lerg he played one hell of a game tonight.

Still get a point and hope to come away with 3 total this weekend.

Lerg was standing on his head until the last 11 seconds of the game. The way he played last night, it's hard to believe Sparty is several games under .500.

yeah Lerg won that game all by himself. I was afraid going into a shoot-out he would win. Young Dalpe was the only was the only one who beat him in the shoot out.

On the Road with Zac Dalpe

It was Friday morning and after a 9:15 wake up and a quick shower, I was off to meet the team for breakfast in the lobby downstairs. After Eggs, hash browns and some waffles, the boys and I were filled and ready to catch the bus for morning skate. We got to the rink and eagerly taped our sticks and tied our skates and hopped onto the ice for our routine morning skate. After our regular break-outs and a flow drill, we worked on some 3-on-3 down low and then that was it. If you walked by our dressing room after pre game skate, you would have heard the oldies tunes pumping thanks to Matt Bartkowski. We cleaned up and headed back to the hotel for another meal at 12:30. Buckeyes lose to MSU 1-2 tonight. Lerg played unbelievably well again and has to get 1st star of the game. Road doesn't get any easier for the young buckeyes from here on out. Hope they can regroup and take four from TSUN next weekend.

Lerg was the first goalie to hold the buckeyes to back to back 1 goal games this season.

Buckeyes Lose on the Road at Michigan State, 2-1

EAST LANSING, Mich. ? Buckeye sophomore goalie Dustin Carlson made 33 saves, but it wasn?t enough as a late Spartan power-play goal lifted Michigan State to a 2-1 victory over the No. 16 Ohio State men?s hockey team Saturday in Munn Ice Arena. The Buckeye penalty kill had stopped a five-minute major earlier in the third period, including a 5-on-3 advantage for the first two minutes of the power play, but the Spartans? Jeff Petry scored at 16:13 on MSU?s fourth power-play of the night to go ahead and MSU held on for the win.

Ohio State now is 18-10-4 on the year and 11-9-4-3 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Michigan State, which earns all four points in the series after a shootout win Friday, move to 9-18-5 overall and 6-14-4-3 in league play.

I was not familiar with the college OT rule but I have to say that the shoot out rule sucks and even worse is the sudden-death part of it and it is not just because Ohio State lost. They should play a 4-4 10 minute overtime and I would think that in over 90% of the games it would be settled in that OT. I know that they have to do the shoot out because of the CCHA standings but it really needs to be changed. Play 60 minutes of hockey and then lead it be decided by really 2 guys as it was Friday night.

I thought one of the cardinal rules of hockey was not to take a penalty late in the game when the score was very close and Ohio State has done that two weekends in a row and JM needs to talk to some of his players about playing smart.
