I thought I was watching Gump Worsley:)

I was not familiar with the college OT rule but I have to say that the shoot out rule sucks and even worse is the sudden-death part of it and it is not just because Ohio State lost. They should play a 4-4 10 minute overtime and I would think that in over 90% of the games it would be settled in that OT. I know that they have to do the shoot out because of the CCHA standings but it really needs to be changed. Play 60 minutes of hockey and then lead it be decided by really 2 guys as it was Friday night.

I thought one of the cardinal rules of hockey was not to take a penalty late in the game when the score was very close and Ohio State has done that two weekends in a row and JM needs to talk to some of his players about playing smart.

The shoot out is not a college rule, it's a CCHA rule and this is the first year it's ever been used. CCHA is the only league that is using it.

The late penalties suck yes, but you have to remember this is a very young team and young inexperienced shit is going to happen. What sucks even more has been the buckeyes power play this year. I think they were something like 0-10 over the weekend, but you have to give credit to Lerg as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get player of the week this week.

Yup, I forgot to mention that while watching the game I thought their power-play reminded me of another team's power-play in Columbus that is not very good.

Also, I realize that the shoot out was only used because of CCHA standings and is not a college rule.

Rough, rough weekend for the Buckeyes. They really needed to pull 3 points this weekend to take the pressure off of getting 2 each against Michigan and Fredo.

Instead they pull 1 point, drop out of 4th place (and a 1st round bye) and put themselves in the crappy position of having to snag extra points against Michigan or Fredo

inexperienced or dumb? the spear what two weeks ago was dumb. personally im embrassed he wasnt suspended. if not by the league, the team. these kids have been playing hockey for 15 or more years. its the same as the football team committing a penalty with 3 minutes to go in the 4th qtr, its dumb. dumb.

that being said playing a weighty game means youre going to take penalties, so be it. kill the penalty off. your best pker has to be your netminder.

i had tickets to the game but i will be out of town. ive given the tickets away. hopefully the team can pull some points this weekend.

What a weekend, the buckeyes started off flat on friday, but came back Saturday playing like the team we saw all year.

They came out friday and seemed a little star struck by the crowd. kind of like a deer caught in head lights. We were out skated, out hustled, and simply didn't play like we wanted it at all. Saturday was a completely different story and even after going down 0-2 the buckeyes didn't give up and earned the W.

Dusty Carlson deserves player of the weekend. The score on friday doesn't show how good a game he played. The game could have been a lot worse if he wouldn't have been playing on top of his head.

Cry baby of the year has to go to Louie Caporusso of scUM. As good of a player as he is I haven't seen such a crying little bitch on the ice. The officials should have thrown his ass out for all the crying he did saturday. But of course the officials and that pos Shegos acted like they were part of scUM's team.

The buckeyes have to take 4 points from fredo next weekend to get a first round bye. lets hope fredo can fall on their face like they do every other year.

College hockey: Buckeyes answer challenge

Ohio State men's hockey coach John Markell had his say after Friday night's uninspired loss to Michigan.
Yesterday, he told his players it would be up to them to rebound.

"I put them in a circle and they challenged each other," Markell said.

The Buckeyes responded, rallying from two goals down to beat Michigan 3-2 in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association game last night in front of 8,390 in Value City Arena."We had a meeting in the morning, without coaches, and got everything we needed to be addressed out there," Sergio Somma said. "We challenged each other."

Freshman Zac Dalpe said the attitude change was immediate.

"Walking out of the meeting, I felt that we were a closer team," he said.
