reality is osu should be much better than they are, a road ive been down with many of you. i would really like to see more inroads up at the usdt in ann arbor. its open but no one is mining it...

Agreed. I just don't know where to lay the responsibility. Markell is the easy target, but I'm not sure that it might not be the fault of misplaced ad priorities. Bottom line is that, given facilities and the athletic department budget, Ohio State should be a consistent powerhouse program rather than a "rise up once every four years" type of program. Christ, we're not even the best program in Ohio right now, and you can imagine how much that pains ol' ORD.

Anyways, the season has started out on a great footing, and this weekend will tell much. Gonna stay positive for now.

Puckeyes vs. Miami

Ohio State Buckeyes (2-0-0) #12 in USCHO poll
Miami RedHawks (2-0-0) #2 in USCHO poll

Friday, October 19th vs Miami Columbus, OH 7:05PM
Sunday, October 21st at Miami Oxford, OH 6:05PM

The come from behind upset win over Wisconsin was a great way to begin the year. But the this weekend's games are much more important as we open CCHA league play with the Coaches preseason favorite and in state rivals the Miami Redhawks.

Here's a link to the Miami boards:

Okay, so our young team got rocked in the league opener by the number 2 team in the nation. It wasn't pretty but hopefully it proves to be a valuable learning experience. We get another shot a Miami at 6pm in Oxford, hopefully this time with a better result.

I can remember when the Blue Jackets came to town. Everyone at Ohio State thought that with the addition of a professional hockey team in Columbus along with a facility such as the Schottenstein Center that the sky was the limit for the Ice Bucks but unfortunately under Markell's tenure that has not come through.

Granted he has occasionally taken the team to the CCHA playoffs and to the Frozen Four once. Miami has nothing compared to what Ohio State has when it comes to facilities but season after season they had been a better team. Worth everything that Markell has at Ohio State along with the Blue Jackets, he should produce quite a bit more than he has. If he does not come through this year with a strong playoff run, I think it is time for a change.
