I Love The Ducks. I Hate Duck Fans.

I, for the first time, attended a ducks game as spectator. I was excited to experience tailgating, cheering, and being with friends, rather than the seriousness that comes with preparing for a game. My buddy, whom I had given tickets to all throughout my time as a player, decided he wanted to pay me back and offer me tickets in corner end-zone seats as a regular fan. I accepted his offer with enthusiasm.

We enjoyed seeing friends, shaking hands, and sharing drinks with fellow supporters.

My friend and I took our seats where I soon became acquainted with the most ignorant people in all of college football. Directly behind me were a couple of drunk (expletive) who criticized Marcus' ability to throw the football, DeAnthony's ability to run the football, the lineman's ability block, and the coach's ability to analyze film and call plays. After hearing so much ignorant (expletive), I turned around to tell the "fans" to chill the (expletive) out. Marcus had overthrown a receiver on a tough play and the spectator made comment, "Hey, Marcus! Throw it inbounds, dumbass!" in, which I finally had enough, and turned around and asked if he would like to get down there and take Marcus' place. The man responded, "No". Then I asked if we were all still rooting for Oregon, in which he responded in an aggressive, irrelevant and incoherent manner and so I decided to discontinue the conversation I had started with him.

I was then verbally attacked by other spectators saying, "you need to keep your (expletive) mouth shut, because you don't know (expletive) about football." They claimed that I didn't know that they had coached college football, and that I had no idea what I was talking about. Ironic to say the least, considering my background and what you know of me, what my old teammates know of me, and what my old coaches know of me.

Cont'd ...

It’s bad enough that Oregon saw its BCS title hopes all but extinguished Thursday night at Stanford Stadium. Now, a couple of fans from the team the Ducks had been chasing all season long have decided to take a 55-gallon drum of salt and pour it all over UO’s fresh, gaping wound.

Since late September, a couple of enterprising UO students have taken to selling neon green & yellow t-shirts around campus which state simply “WE WANT BAMA.” At $10 a pop, the statement shirt was all the rage on the Eugene campus as the Ducks chased No. 1 Alabama and seemed to be on an inevitable collision course with the two-time defending BCS champions.

It even prompted a fashion response from Tide Nation.

Then, Thursday night happened.

Then, of course, Alabama fans had a little fun at the Ducks’ expense, reprinting an updated version of the “WE WANT BAMA” motif and shared via Twitter by Birmingham radio personality Jim Dunaway:

Same [Mark May], different year. Why do people buy into Oregon each and every year? The deficiencies are always the same.
I dunno, while I don't think Oregon has proven to be a NCAA contender this year, I still think they are a very solid team. I thought they were a very solid team when we beat them in 2010 and see the same thing now. Yeah, they have weaknesses, but they are still a damn good team.

No one denies they are a solid team, even top 10... but the "buying into" comes up when the koolaid being passed around is that they are an unstoppable offensive juggernaut. They are REALLY fast Gimmick offense, much like TTU when mike leach had them rolling. they will put up a billion points on bad and middle of the pack teams. They do no however play a physical style of football and do not respond well against teams that do. I am not saying they would lose the game but I would be very curious to see what would happen if you squared them off against MSU. They are obviously more talented but I am not sure theyd have 11 guys left to get on the field at the end of the game.

Michigan State's offense isn't good enough.

A big part of the "beat Oregon" equation is having an offense good enough to stay on the field and win time of possession.

They came extremely close to winning a NC in 2010-2011. I know we love to rip on them, but they've been a very good team over the past 3-5 years.

Edit:

The past 5 seasons, they've finished #9 in 2008, #11 in 2009, #3 in 2010, #4 in 2011, and #2 in 2012.

They've been a very good team for a large part of the last 14 years (or whatever it has been) going back to the time when Belloti hired Tedford as OC/QB coach (Akili Smith and Joey Harrington). They had a lull there between Tedford leaving for the Cal job and landing Chip Kelly as OC, but the program has hung its hat on the offensive side of the ball since the BCS started.

Sparty is nasty tho. Their entire team has that tough as nails mentality that Dantonio brought to tOSU's D. I'm not saying they'd crush Oregon. Hell I don't know if they'd win. But like BuckeyeSoldier said, after playing Sparty, they would feel it for a month.
That's where the B1G gets shafted by the media. NW played their souls off against tOSU, and got pounded doing so. It's no surprise that a good team that doesn't go two deep with much talent folds after a game like that. Especially when they have to play the Wisconsin road graders the next week. I keep hearing how tOSU would finish fifth in the almighty SEC. If Johnny Football had to play tosu, iowa, wisky, and MSU in a six week span, he might never sign another autograph.
