Front page of yahoo, we'll see if this picks up any steam with the other "news" agencies. Selling trinkets vs. paying for recruits.

I'm not saying that what JT did wasn't a fireable offense, but if covering for some of your players, or not following tips, however you want to put it gets you forced out, paying for recruits (with university checks, no, less...how EPICALLY dumb is that?) should get you run out on a stick. We'll see.

No mention of it right now on the front page of cnnsi or espn. What a shock. Related question--what ever came out of the saga at Oregon in which the university employee rented a car for one of the football players?

Is this the bomb?

Maybe, but the bomb wasn't supposed to come until August. Also, this doesn't rate a 10 if the JT story is only an 8. Oregon's a nobody compared to Ohio State. For a story to be a 10 it would have involve something really bad by someone really big, like Notre Dame, Texas, or Alabama.

Sorry if this is just redundant drivel, but you guys do know that Tressel's "Good Guy" perception was the main reason he got raked over the coals so badly, right? As much as the media loves building up those ultra-awesome stories of really awesome people being really awesome, they equally love the flip side of that coin where they tear that person down off the pillar they built with their own hands.

It's a far bigger story when the good guys break the rules. Perhaps take it as a compliment that Tressel was such a good guy that they felt his actions created such a huge story. Chip Kelly, no matter how successful recently, is never ever going to be confused with Jim Tressel.

It may be unfair, but that's why it will never be as big of a story.

I think that, on balance, this is true....some people love to tear down leaders/good people, etc. So, it's bigger when a decent guy becomes very human.

That said, I would think this new story about Oregon/Kelly would register a pretty big "ruh-roh" out of Oregon and their fanbase. What Lyles is saying is not pretty.

Out of curiosity, I stopped by our favorite west coast owned and Nike sponsored media outlet had to say about the crumbling floor beneath Kelly's lies.

They decided it is not front page material, but feldman's declaration of the tide turned for UM is.

I think another bottle of champagne is due.
