Operation Chaos mode - BCS Title game contenders

but they don't play anyone.

I have to disagree here man. If Florida runs through that schedule undefeated they have every reason to play for a title. The SEC doesn't have any super dominant teams outside from Florida IMHO, but it's still a very good conference. I think Bama is pretty damn good, at least defensively. We shall see though.

Other than Arkansas, LSU, anything goes rivalry game Georgia, a rejuvenated and ranked FSU that just crushed a pretty good BYU squad, and the winner in the West (likely Bama), you are right.

Hope you get by the Juggernaut that is Zook this Saturday.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean Florida isn't a great team. I just mean, looking at who the play, they should win the rest of their games. They get Arkansas at home, Gerogia doesn't have a defense and while they do play away against LSU, the Tigers are way overrated this year.

Since Meyer has taken over, the Gators have had FSU's number. Florida doesn't have to play Alabama or Ole Miss this year, which makes things easier. If Florida losses a game this year I will be shocked. They are clearly the best team this year with tons of talent. They would have to completly not show up to lose.

I am not so sure we are all that. Percy's role last year was underrated. He should have recieved the MVP for the orange bowl, not Timmy.

No problems at all, I just think that as of now ( and yeah it will change as the year goes on) we both play three currently ranked teams (four for UF if we face Bama in Atlanta), which is really about the same as tOSU.

Timmy was in contention for OU's MVP award for over half of that contest. But rather than acknowledge the second NC the defense won, the hyperbole for Tebow must not be stopped (as noted by him leading UF to a title in 06).

Which is a good reason the SEC hype needs to be reeled in. If you're playing about the same schedule as the much maligned b10 flagship school, then it's probably not that difficult to finish the season undefeated.

At least the Ole Miss paper tiger has been cast aside for now.

The SEC's greatness is in how many solid teams they have, and how many different teams could be a title contender. Where the exaggeration kicks in is when the perception of the conference is used to judge squads and schedules rather than the actual performances. That's why you see so many win-win situations in SEC play, top-10 teams falling usually mean the victor catapults up the poll.

Yeah - but two of the three ranked teams you play are Big-10 teams. :p

Them winning out hurts us more. And SOS isn't that big a factor when you are talking about teams that play teams we play. SOS isn't in the main formula it is only in the minds of voters. Computers only go by teams that you beat so it doesn't factor in there either.

Plus it would add a player to beat another big team for us. When a team that is below us loses, especially to a crappy team, it opens them up as someone that can help us. For example, Missouri loses and goes to 2-1... they drop out of the top 25... they in turn go and beat Texas or Okla ST. ... Helps Ohio State move up and they do not jump Ohio State.

And say Missouri is 4-0 when playing OKLA ST... the winner of that top 15 matchup could have a gripe to jump OHIO ST.

Most computer models factor in the records of your opponents, and the records of the teams your opponents played.

But I agree that having Mizzou lose would be a better thing for tOSU overall.

That is the conversation I was having with someone at work. Tebow is a good talent, but I think Harvin made that offense click. Florida is very good, I just think that people have undervalued the loss of Percy. The kid is a dynamic talent.

This season shapes up for Florida to underperform. It's pretty rare to see a team go from start to finish at number 1. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Florida could slip up at least once this season. They have tough road games at LSU and South Carolina. Yeah you heard that last one right, the Gamecocks have a good squad IMHO.

I think that this is a year where the favorites do not get to the title game.

Cal and Miami both got waxed. FSU lost at home to USF, those things all helped.

LSU barely held on - someone should have told the Miss St QB that it's OK to reach the ball over the pile on 4th down.

And there's still the night games!

Miami and FSU(The U badly)(Free Shows lost to South Florida?) get beat on the same weekend(not back). Cal gets humiliated at Oregon? Pac Ten sucks. SC won't lose a game on the remainder of their schedule. Ol Miss stunk it up. State Penn and ND your up!
