Operation Chaos mode - BCS Title game contenders

daddyphatsacs

Let the cards fall...
With the loss of USC today I have officially decided to go in to operation chaos mode a little earlier than normal this year. Sure, the Bucks lost a tough one last week, but it's ok..........hear me out. I still see them getting back in the title picture this season. That being said, I see college football shaking it up this season in a big way. We have already seen a lot of good upsets, and some teams are not what we thought they would be. We are only in week 3; there are a lot of games to be played with a lot of upsets yet to be made.

So I have officially gone in to rooting for complete chaos in the land of college football. I want to see huge upsets and the college landscape become a huge cluster[censored] by late November. All the while if the Bucks just go out and get better each and every week and take care of business, I see them having a shot at a title this season. It sounds silly, but it's never too early to start talking about what it would take.

I know that this is a rambling post, but it's never to early to start talking about the teams in front of us that we need to lose. :)

?The lack of humility before nature that?s being displayed here, uh? staggers me.?
Yeah yeah, but you're scientists were all caught up in whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should!

Gee, uh the lack of humility before nature that's displayed here... uhh staggers me.

God creates dinosaurs, God destroys dinosaurs, God creates man, man destroys God, man creates dinosaurs.

See? See? I'm right again, nobody could have predicted that Dr. Grant would suddenly jump out of a moving vehicle... (exit Ellie Sattler too) there's another example, see here I'm now sitting by myself, uhh talking to myself, and that's that's chaos.

From what i seen today Florida doesnt seem to have anyone at WR stepping up, I think they will lose eventually. I wouldnt be surprised to see them lose twice. Theyre running game can be stopped if that all teams have to do.

 please tell me you didn't quote that from memory.

i think it's officially chaos mode already. the Gators O-line looked suspect today. Texas looked like they've regressed from last year. i haven't seen Ole Miss so i have no comment. State Penn has played the weakest schedule in recent memory... BYU, see ya. Cal, er they struggled against Minny. Boise St? somehow i doubt it...

i hate to say it (no, i don't really) but the Miami Hurricanes look like they should be in the MNC discussion if they can win the next two games... and on that note, where would you guys rank the Canes right now? i'm thinking top 10...

I didn't get to watch the game, but they had over 200 yards rushing on the stat sheet, with no huge runs or anything.

haha sadly I did... I've seen JP over.... well lets say 200 times probably, in college whenever I had to study for a test or write a paper the first thing I did was put my study buddy on so that I could take some breaks and enjoy watching people get eaten by dinosaurs. Sometimes I'd also pull the all-nighter and watch all 3 of them, but I also almost wanted to puke when I put the 3rd one in my PS3.

Also, I agree with your other comments about the other teams, all night I've been saying well at least we'll jump to 10, but now I believe we stand still at 11, USC goes to 9 (because they won't drop below us) and Miami(FL) jumps to 10.

Who is playing good defense in college football right now? And does it still matter?
I need to see us shut down Illinois next week and TP to show more progress to think we could have a chance.
Right now I'm thinking Rose Bowl!

Ok if we are getting into this now....which i was waiting for another week or two..... we have to understand what would put OSU in the MNC. The formula stands at this:

1/3- Coaches poll
1/3- Harris poll(which isn't out yet)
1/3- Computers(which I don't believe are out yet)

Add those together and you get the BCS rank. In turn OSU obviously needs to hit 1 or 2.

Top 20 (coaches) pre-week three
1. Florida(1472)
2. Texas(1399)
3. USC(1368)
4. ALA(1277)
5. PSU(1216)
6. OLE MISS(1060)
7. LSU(1051)
7. Cal(1051)
9. BYU(941)
10. Boise St.(913)
11. Ohio St.(855)
12. OKLA(794)
13. Georg Tech(771)
14. Virginia Tech(709)
15. TCU(648)
16. Utah(533)
17. OK St.(485)
18. Nebraska(471)
19. North Carolina(341)
20. Georgia(333)

I personally do not see Miami being a danger to jump OSU. Miami has 2 tough games which if won then they are a threat(VT and OKLA) I also believe there is a good chance that with BYU losing that OSU could pass up USC and OKLA could do the same. If that happens then USC is OSU's best friend per the computers for the time being. If USC beats Cal, they would in turn jump OSU again due to the strength of Cal at this point(Unless Oregon plays spoiler to Cal). OSU has a very good ending to their season at this point...PSU who will be at least 4th if they win out, a probable top 25 team in Iowa, then another probable top 25 team in Mich(media darling)... which will boost all three polls. The SEC will beat itself up as will the Big 12 and ACC.

Now the next step is schedules, so that will be part 2 coming up.

So from my post above, we must put all teams in the mix that have a probable chance to jump OSU or outrace them to a # 2 spot in the BCS poll final week rank(if plausible teams turn into probable due to wins they can be added). And from that determine what those teams would need to be at to finish below OSU. I believe that the money OSU brings to the Bowls only help OSU more than that UF game hurt OSU. So OSU may not need certain teams to recieve 2 losses. Saying it is understood OSU needs to win out, Big Ten teams are not a factor(PSU, IOWA,UM..are only dangerous teams and OSU plays them).

These are the most dangerous teams to OSU and those teams tough games

SEC teams-add SEC CG to all
Florida-@LSU/Ark/Georg/@SCar/FSU/
Alabama-Ark/@Miss/SCar/LSU/@Aub
Ole Miss-@SCar/ALA/Ark/@Aub/LSU
LSU-Georg/Flor/Aub/@ALA/@Miss/Ark
Georgia-LSU/Flor/Aub/@Georg Tech
(Auburn/Kentucky/Miss St. not probable)
(South Carolina back too far in conference(3 games from leader))

Big 12 Teams-add B12 CG to all
Texas-OKLa/Mizz/@Ok St./Kan/Tex A&M
Okla-@Miami/Tex/@Kan/@Neb/@Tex Tech/OK St
Okla St.-Mizz/Tex/Tex Tech/Okla
Missouri-Neb/OK St./Tex/Kan
(Kansas/Nebraska/Tex Tech/Tex A&M not probable)

ACC Teams-add ACC CG to all
Miami-@Va Tech/OKLA/@WF/@UNC
Virginia Tech-Miami/@Georg Tech/UNC/
North Carolina-@Georg Tech/FSU/@ VA Tech/Miami/@BC
Georgia Tech-UNC/@Miss St/@FSU/VA Tech/Georg
Florida St-@BC/Georg Tech/@UNC/@WF/@Flor.
(Clem/NC St./WF/BC out of rankings and not probable)

Big East
Cincinnati-Fres St/@USF/WVU/ILL/@Pitt
Pittsburgh-@NC St./ND/@WVU/Cincy
(USF/Conn/Rutg/WV not probable)

Pac 10
California-@Oreg/USC/@UCLA/Oreg. St./@ Wash
USC-@Cal/@ND/Oreg St./ @ Oreg/ UCLA
Oreg St-@USC/UCLA/@Cal/@Oreg
(Oreg/UCLA/Arizona/Ariz St./Stan/Wash not probable)

Wild card teams
Notre Dame-USC/BC/Navy/@Pitt
Boise St.-hard to say maybe @ Bowling Green/Nevada
TCU-@Clem/@AFA/@BYU/Utah
(Houston/Utah/BYU not probable)

So now we have a solid measuring stick of teams to root for/against. I know alot to look thru right now but teams getting multiple losses will get pulled and lists will get updated per games played.

With teams playing in front of OSU it looks like 6 teams are going to drop below us with natural losses. So OSU is looking at winning out and getting help from maybe 5-10 teams. More probable than 2007's season. Once Week 3 is released we will have a better idea of what we are looking at.

Agreed. Harris is the real deal, the kid can flat out throw the ball. You do realize that now that we've talked them up they will lose.......... Just saying.

From what I saw of Florida yesterday they are not as dominant as I expected them to be. Texas was a bit rusty for some reason, but you'd have to think that McCoy will get it going. Ole Miss will probably slip up, I just don't think they are a title team. Penn State could lose next week to Iowa, it would not surprise me. All in all it's going to be a fun fall for college football.
