Operation Chaos mode - BCS Title game contenders

They jumped us and USC in the coaches too.

There's the answer. We got hurt by USC's loss. However, I think that'll just be a temporary thing as long as we both get on a winning track.

I think that voters felt they over-reacted to Oklahoma losing their quarterback. Everyone else that jumped beat up on teams about as good as Toledo.

Had USC and Navy won yesterday, we'd be ranked about #9. Navy was never really looking like they'd win at Pitt. USC dropped their clanger and the Big Ten did not close the deal against Notre Dame, Cal, or Syracuse.

So, what could have been a really good day for us went about as bad as it could. The bad news is that, even if we beat Penn State and close out with only the loss to USC, wins in the Big Ten won't count for much unless they look a lot like yesterday.

Let's be frank, there is one more round of OOS games later in the year, but so far the Big Ten has stunk it up.

There are a few things we should remember.

It is early in the season. Polls don't mean much yet. There is still the possibility of a couple of stunning losses above us to get us back into the top ten.

Still, I don't see any way that we will play for the NC this year because the computers will never put us in the top 2 and the pollsters won't either. Entering the Big Ten schedule means that we just play a bunch of teams with low rankings, when compared to other major conferences.

The reality is that we will be set up for a NC run next year if we win out and play in a bowl game we can win. I just don't see the NC game.

PS: Jake is right. Boise gets too much respect. If you have talent, it is easy to prepare for one or two tough games a year and then play the sisters of the poor week after week.

Boise takes a bit of a hit

Boise State RB D.J. Harper out for season with torn ACL - ESPN

Boise State running back D.J. Harper will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL, coach Chris Petersen announced Monday.

Harper suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of the eighth-ranked Broncos' 51-34 win against Fresno State.

Petersen said the junior is undergoing tests Monday, will likely have surgery this week and should be eligible to redshirt this season.

Jeremy Avery, who is second on the team in rushing with 279 yards rushing and 99 yards receiving, will be the starting tailback and Doug Martin, who has been featured on defense and in the return game, will be the backup.

Harper had 12 rushes for 107 yards and a touchdown against Fresno State. He leads the team with 284 rushing yards and three touchdowns this season.

Best case scenario is that we win out and beat TSUN and State Penn with some combination of records like 10-2 and 11-1. They play head to head, so at least one of them has to have a second loss other than to OSU. Even with a strong finish like that, I doubt we have a shot at an MNC berth (and frankly, I don't want one).

I have a feeling that Iowa is going to best Penn St. this weekend. Honestly, I think that OSU will win the Big Ten outright. Penn State has no offensive line this year, they are a shell of the squad from last season.

I don't know if this has been posted already but I think that it is hilarious that this article was on ESPN. This especially goes out to TRESSELBELIEVER!!

How does Oklahoma keep pulling this off?

1). Making it to the title game in '03 despite getting trashed by KSU in the B12 title game?

2). Leapfrogging UT into the title game last year despite losing head to head?

3). Leapfrogging us in the polls despite losing to freakin BYU in Dallas, a team that just got annihilated by FSU?

B12 football and Oklahoma are really bothering me a lot.

Mack Brown said it himself; "College football is about not who is better, but who is better that day". He's onto something. Between injuries and the 2 flu's this year we will see some strange upsets and games where all it takes is the starting QB out with the flu to make a team look mediocre or even lose.
(Bradford, Clausen,Barkley)

Watch ND and Clausen with his case of turf toe. And Floyd out.

(pray for a healthy TP)

Hold on to your hats , Buckeye fans!
