Boise State running back
D.J. Harper will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL, coach Chris Petersen announced Monday.
Harper suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of the eighth-ranked Broncos' 51-34 win against Fresno State.
Petersen said the junior is undergoing tests Monday, will likely have surgery this week and should be eligible to redshirt this season.
Jeremy Avery, who is second on the team in rushing with 279 yards rushing and 99 yards receiving, will be the starting tailback and
Doug Martin, who has been featured on defense and in the return game, will be the backup.
Harper had 12 rushes for 107 yards and a touchdown against Fresno State. He leads the team with 284 rushing yards and three touchdowns this season.
