Olympic Hockey Gold Medal

Sweden beat Finland 2-0 which clinched the #1 seed for the US. They will play the winner of Switzerland/Belarus on Wednesday.

The Canadians play Germany tomorrow and if (when) they win they will play Russia on Wednesday. The US and Canada are on opposite sides of the bracket so if they meet up again it will be in either the gold or bronze medal game.

Couldn't have asked for a better draw.

Did I understand this correctly, if the US wins out and Canada does also then there is no Gold/Silver game?

If the USA wins twice and Canada wins 3 times (Russia being the middle one), the USA and Canada would play for the Gold. So they could get revenge in a rematch.

A talking head I was half paying attention to stated something that I interpreted as if the US wins out and Canada wins out there would not be a game for the Gold. Like I said I was only paying half attention.

No, the first game between USA and Canada was strictly for seeding purposes... Now it goes to tournament format, single elimination.
