Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

You have to wonder how this would turn out if Micah Jordan had beaten Gulibon. The PSU kid earned getting to the championship match but in the final you could tell he wasn't good enough. Take away a couple of PSU wins and Iowa is much closer and we'd have another guy in the finals too.

I fully expect PSU to win the NCAA based upon their studs but they are downright unbeatable if guys like Gulibon place that highly.

Great win by Tomasello and hopefully Bo can finally break through against Isaac. But we have really wrestled poorly overall this weekend and still are only a point from Iowa right now, which is pretty encouraging, though I was getting pretty frustrated in the quarter finals and in consolations. Johnny D had a rough showing, Mic lost one he should not have but did bounce back to get a fall to take 3rd, Burcher was pretty decent but came up just short on making the tourney (most likely), no way Ryan should have lost either of the matches he did, Bo looked flat against his PSU guy but responded nice against Rodrigues, Myles looked great other than a really poor showing against Nickal, Courts was flat out awful in taking 8th, Mark Martin was ok but looks like he got a spot in the tourney, and Snyder is so dominant it is nuts.

Really need a couple more wins and we could pass Iowa for second. Really want to see Bo beat his cousin for once and the Snyder/Coon match should be really entertaining...easily his toughest matchup this year.

With you 100% on both ends. Mic is the better wrestler, he just doesn't match up well with Gulibon for some reason. Mic is our biggest wildcard because he could legitimately win it all, or he could not get on the podium.

And truth on PSU...I just think they have too much firepower. There would need to be some guys from other conferences that create matchup issues for some of their guys but unfortunately, I think most of those scenarios work against us this year (whereas last year they worked in our advantage). To stand a chance, guys like Conway, Gulibon, Morretti, and McCutcheon would need to get upset early on. You know that Retherford is going to win it and Nolf will get to the finals against IMAR again most likely (that was a hell of a match by the way, about as good of wrestling as you will ever watch)...both will get tons of bonus. But at this point, I am a little less sure they will blow out the field as I was before.

Looked like Bo lost it by having to expend so much energy trying to get out in the second period. Would love to see him avenge the loss in the NCAAs if he can keep seed 3.

PSU is getting enough BS big calls to go their way today. That is for sure. IMar had the takedown in OT and Nolf was pulling on the head gear for about 5 seconds. Terrible. But if you go read a PSU forum they are doing their traditional complaint-fest.

IMAR got screwed so bad...I don't even know how they could conceivably not call that a takedown. It was clearly an escape, followed by a clear takedown. And if you don't call that a takedown, you call it no change and Nolf is still down. Really glad IMAR gutted it out and didn't let the refs take it away from him though. Excellent wrestling though, that was a treat to watch. PSU wrestling fans are the absolute worst though, that does not surprise me at all.

Looks like we will take 3rd though. I believe Snyder would have to pin his guy to tie or beat Iowa out for 2nd, which will not happen. I like Snyder to win, but he does not pin guys and especially not Coon. Not a bad finish considering we did not wrestle well overall.

This turns into an issue a lot when Bo faces Isaac. He HAS to get out quicker to beat Isaac. I am pretty sure they will see each other in semi's as the #2/3 seeds, but Isaac just has his number. I would be more confident if Bo had ever even come close to taking Isaac down. Here is to hoping though, I want to see Bo in finals.

Yeah. It just seems that Isaac has a bit more of the 'quick twitch' to him.

Good win by the big guy. Fun to seem to take on a Michigan behemoth and win.

I think Micah would have had a tough time with Ashnault from Rutgers had he made it the finals.

Bo just cannot get his offense going against his cousin. In all three matches he hasn't been close to a takedown. If projected seeds hold up he'll get another shot at Issac but no one is beating Dieringer this year.

Agreed. That was clearly a takedown. I think Cael gets more reversed calls than any coach alive. Great match though. Both guys all out and completely spent at the end. I hope we get to see 3.0.
