Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

- I know, BOLD prediction. But hey, we have a full strength lineup and McCutcheon is out, so I don't think the above is all that unrealistic. Feel free to call me crazy though because I could also see this one getting out of hand in a sold-out Rec Hall, particularly if the dual would start at a bad weight to get the ball rolling for them...149 would be really bad but I hope it starts at 125 because I want us to know what we need with Snyder up last.

I love it, but I just don't has as good a feeling. I think we'll get 4 wins and that is it: Snyder, NaTo, and the two Jordans. I have a hard time thinking any of the others win even over any back-ups. I think we'll be in the 14-15 range with our main guys getting a couple bonus points but see PSU in the mid to high twenties after bonus points.

I hope I am wrong!

Certainly could be the outcome and I am quite the optimist in my prediction. Specifically on Courts though, he has had McCutcheon's number and facing his backup, I definitely think he wins (even considering his inconsistency). That gets us to 5 wins and an even split. In that scenario, obviously it comes down to bonus, which PSU has been thriving on. So I think the matches we are not favored in, we really need to tighten it up and just do not give up bonus...so in that respect, it is VERY important that Ryan and Martin wrestle, or else bonus is a guarantee at those weights.

That's kinda where I am... PSU 25 and OSU around 15. But as RB07OSU mentioned I could see this thing going downhill quickly if we lose one the weights where we are favored - 125 or 141. Anyone that watched the Iowa vs PSU match last year at Bryce Jordan will attest to the fact that their guys wrestle above ability in that environment and upsets are pretty common. Their home crowd always gets on the opposing wrestler for stalling and the refs seem to get caught up in this. So our guys need to be aggressive or they are going to get called pretty quickly.

If NaTo comes out and beats Mega and JDJ somehow finds a way to win at 133 that would be huge. I think 141 is going to be tough. Gulibon has struggled but this is a big stage and I think it's going to be a very tight match - almost a tossup. I see no scenario where PSU doesn't get 11 combined points at 149 & 157. OSU should take 165 but I am not certain that it's gonna be more than 4 team points and that's no knock on Bo. 174... looking at the match these two wrestled in the NLO, Myles was right there but he's lost a few matches since and it's asking a lot for him to get the W. I think just staying out of bonus points here is a win for OSU. The PSU boards are indicating that McCutcheon is a go for tomorrow. It's hard to predict Kenny and his lapses. You would think being a PA guy he'd come out and wrestle out of his mind but I am not expecting that. This is one of those matches where the crowd will heavily impact the results. At 197 anything less than a tech fall is a win. No chance Martin or a substitute keep it closer. Kyle isn't a pinner so a tech fall here would be the max but I could see a scenario where Johnson just does enough to keep it to a MD.

Crazy that McCutcheon might be a go now...every indication I was getting said he would be out until B1Gs at best, seemed like this was out of the question. If he wrestles, Courts has beat him but I would favor McCutcheon at home if he is somewhat healthy. That alone would be enough for me to change my prediction to PSU and that is assuming a healthy OSU at 157 and 197. At 197, I think Martin can hold McIntosh to a MD...McIntosh is really good but not necessarily a big scorer and Martin can hold him off 4 points or less. As to 165, I could see it only being 4 points but Bo is such a hammer on top that I see enough turns to get us 5 or 6...could easily be wrong, just a guess based on the way he has been wrestling. And agreed on Gulibon to some extent...not an easy win by any stretch but I think Mic could pound him enough to get to bonus.

And PSU has dominated at duals this year so far. I honestly just went down match by match and realized that if it went down that way, OSU wins by a point. But what I listed is a completely perfect storm given our lineup completely healthy and I recognize it would be a miracle for OSU to pull this off...I'm just biased

Anyways, I hope this is just competitive and fun to watch. NCAA's will be a completely different story and I just want this to be entertaining.

But here is the Flo prediction...also close, but PSU by 10. That being said, they are assuming NaTo and Courts lose in that prediction. Just have to wait until tomorrow to see who wrestles but if it is close to full strength, I think it will be close.

Going to need a major upset to go our way, especially since I think I read Mark Martin is out. Down 2 pts to through 157 compared to RB's upset chart.
JDJ losing after being up 4-0 was bad. We had no shot at 149 and Ryan was lucky he didn't get DQ for stalling. We need Bo to get bonus and and then Courts to get the W and hope that 174 & 197 don't give up bonus

PennState 24 Ohio State 14 Final - I was off by one . I didn't see Courts winning even against a guy with one functional leg. He showed nothing as he has all year. Bo looked either uninterested or tired. Myles was in the match until the 3rd and then it got away from him. Snyder wrestled a guy that is basically a football walk on filling in for Nevills. Fox and Maradino had no shot - none. This is difference between PSU and everyone else. They can roll out a backup 165 and he's in the match competing trying to win. Our backups are probably giving up 5 or 6 points.

The good... NaTo over Mega. The match was everything you thought it would be.

Well, pretty good effort overall. Great win for Toms. Johnny started strong and should have got back points to go up 6-0 imo and that would have been very tough to come back from...still disappointed he didn't finish better because we needed that one. Mic wrestled a very solid match, turned his defense into offense pretty well and I had not seen that from him yet. 149 was going to be a blood bath either way. Nolf is just an absolute hammer, very impressed with him. Bo's match I was extremely disappointed in...he didn't attack at all and we really needed bonus there, I have never seen him wrestle so passively, even considering the guy stalling. Myles wrestled a hell of a match and I really thought he was going to pull it off for a second...he can definitely beat Nickal and that was just a mental error trying to throw the head and arm in that position at the end. Courts looked as disinterested as ever and couldn't beat the tiny-Tim version of a guy he's already beat multiple times...surprised to see McCutcheon out there. Fox had no chance and Snyder kicked tail.

I think 24-14 is pretty respectable considering they were full strength and we had two backups in. What was not respectable? PSU fans. The ridiculous boos for stalling when guys are obviously wrestling gets really old, but booing a kid who is possibly concussed? Absolutely zero class. Get into the match and get loud, but show some respect. Anyways, not a bad effort overall.

Agreed, it was a big ask to win this match and we won 4 weights which is decent. I think looking at this team for next year and beyond they need to continue to recruit a 197 and I know this isn't going to be popular... an AA type 157. I really like Jake but I think he needs to be challenged at that weight especially if we are going to compete with the elite programs. Pletcher would seem to be a great get at 133 and Isaiah White at 165 seems solid. Slide Bo to 174 and let Myles go up one weight where he's closer to his natural weight. Hopefully Kyle still has interest in college wrestling after the Olympics. That is a great line up with a potential for points.

I am with you 100% on all accounts...197 is a must get and I wish we would have went after Darmstadt there. And agreed on Jake...he has wrestled much better than I expected but even still, we need someone to compete there against him. He got throttled by both of the top guys at 157 and even though both are superstars, we need someone who can at least keep it a little tighter.
