Hopefully with OSU (and PSU winning) we won't see too many Ohio kids have Iowa as their 'dream school' anymore. I don't begrudge Alex for making his decision, just hoping to have the best go to OSU.

I hear you...Alex is a great kid but of course I wish he would have stuck with OSU, he's probably the top guy in the country next year regardless of weight. The door is open now with Jeff sending his own kids to OSU (safe bet Rocky will be a Buckeye btw). Good chance Ryan Thomas goes to the good guys as well, freshman who narrowly lost in semi's and took 3rd at state...he is extremely talented, probably will be a 3x state champ, and will likely be a top recruit if he keeps progressing. And Mitch Moore, who I think might be the second coming of David Taylor, is another guy we have a great shot at. Just speaking on Graham but I think we'll see more Falcons commit to OSU in the near future.

FOUR-TIME NCAA CHAMPION LOGAN STIEBER WINS OHIO STATE'S FIRST HODGE TROPHY

More men have walked on the moon than have won four individual NCAA wrestling titles. So, it's of no surprise that Logan Stieber, a four-time NCAA champion, was awarded Ohio State's first Hodge Trophy in its 94-year history.

For those unfamiliar with the Hodge Trophy, it's considered the Heisman Trophy of collegiate wrestling. It's given to "the most outstanding" wrestler annually.

"Growing up, the first college match I saw was Cael Sanderson winning his fourth title," said Stieber to OhioStateBuckeyes.com. "I knew the Hodge Trophy was the biggest and best award so I wanted to win it. To now be in that group is very humbling and I'm proud to have won it."

Thinking about our lineup next year and I do not see any reason why we cannot make another legitimate run at a consecutive title. My (hopeful) lineup goes like this:

125: Nathan Tomasello (critical he stays down here, we do not have anyone else to go 125...a repeat with more bonus would be huge)
133: Johnny DiJulius (also hoping he can be here, nobody else coming in 133 or under...need him to be a high AA/make a run at the title)
141: KeShawn Hayes (will take some lumps as a true freshman but he is a stud and could make a run at being an AA...lots of potential)
149: Micah Jordan (went 29-1 in opens, which is outstanding and he is a huge x-factor that could be a high AA...could go up to 157 but I feel Hunter slots better there)
157: Hunter Stieber (really, really hope he can get fully healthy because we do need him next year...and I just want his hard work and heart to get rewarded with a title/high AA)
165: Bo Jordan (think he stays here with relative ease...hoping Dieringer goes up so Bo can win this weight next year haha...either way, a high AA at least)
174/184: Mark Martin/Myles Martin (I think these two will be our guys at these two weights...I think Myles can have a great freshman season but Martin needs to step it up...need at least one to AA)
197: Kyle Snyder (nuff said...should be primed for a title run)
Hvy: Thomas Haines (I just do not see Tavanello holding off Haines...Haines could be big time for us next year)

Who do you see as title contenders next year? OSU and who else? Just reading a PSU and site they seem fairly excited about their chances. What about Iowa, Mizzou, Okie St? Could Edinboro or Cornell take the next step? I think Minnesota loses too much to be a contender. TIA.

I did not read but I heard that PSU was going to be a major contender next year but I do not know if that is because they have such a good recruiting class or why.

In my eyes, it will likely be PSU and Iowa. Iowa returns a ton of talent (Gilman, Clark, Sorensen, Brooks, Burak) but lose Evans and Telford. PSU not only returns some studs, but they get Zain Retherford and Nico Megaludis back off of redshirts (PSU basically went with the Ohio State 2013-14 plan there)...and a really good 2014 class. But they do lose a champion in Matt Brown at 174 and an AA Heavy in Lawson (but he will be replaced by Nevillis, who might be better). Mizzou is a unlikely as they lose Houdashelt, Waters, England, and Mellon, which are huge blows...but Cox, Mayes, and Miklus are some good ones returning.

I agree on Minnesota and I doubt Edinboro makes a run losing Port, Habat, Mines, and Schopp. Avery is a stud returning but not much else. Cornell could be interesting though...they return Garrett (former runner up), Realbuto (runner up this year), Dean (champion this year), and bring in a very good past two recruiting classes...but lose Villalonga. Either way, I would watch them.

Freshman of the year released on Intermat and of course it was Martinez...undefeated and national champ. But the next three in order were Tomasello, Snyder, and Bo. Ah, the future is bright.

US Open in Vegas was this weekend (freestyle). Kyle Snyder beat Jake Varner 2-1 for the title in the senior division...I can't even state how incredible that is for him to win at his age. Varner beat JD Bergman to get to the finals. Logan Stieber lost 5-4 in the quarters, he needs more time to re-acclimate to freestyle. Former Buckeye Reece Humphrey also took a title home with a 7-6 victory over Kendrick Maple. Also, David Taylor defeated Andrew Howe 2-0 to win it (not a point scored on him all tournament) and Metcalf defeated Oliver 2-1 for the title. Mic Jordan made it to semi finals in the junior division but fell to the eventual champion.
