Meyer has one conference title, and caught lightning in a bottle with Cardale Jones.

He blew the B1G CG in 2013. Sammy Watkins catching 16 passes. The Sparty game in 2015. Faceplant against Ped State last year. An egg against the Sooners this year. And now this humiliating debacle.

Tressel coached in three national championship games in his first seven seasons. Meyer? One for six so far.

Tressel is my favorite OSU coach ever, and will most likely retain that top spot until the heat death of the universe. I was known as a Tressel apologist for years on another forum, and shit, it was worth it. He accomplished so much for this program bringing it the first NC in 34 years and B1G dominance for a decade. His teams were also utterly fuckstomped multiple times on the biggest stages until the crumpled carcass of the program became a laughing stock whenever they had to play a team with a pulse. Between 2005 and 2008, the biggest OOC win was over ND coached by Chuck Weis, the walking joke. The games against legit CFB powers were such laughers that a lot of OSU fans and CFB fans in general thought OSU would not be able to recover from it.

Tressel always had airtight special teams, a very good defense, and shit show on offense until the QB was in his 3rd year starting. Just the truth. He was a great coach, but he struggled mightily to recruit the best players, install an offensive system that didn't take 3 years to threaten a good defense, and win the big games. And I hate to say this, but he would not have won as many B1G titles if they had to play for a title game at the end of the season, nor would he have been able to win the title in '14.

The funny thing is, I remember so clearly people clamoring for Meyer after 06, or Peterson (who people were fucking certain would win 7 straight NCs if he went to a power 5 team), or Brian Kelly (), because anything would be better than winning 90 straight B1G titles with no big bowl win or NC to top off the season. But any time that happens, you have to know they're eventually going to get sick of the guy, no matter who he is, after the 10th loss or so, whether they're on the big stage or against cowfuck u. (Remember the Greatest Coach of the Greatest Team Ever(TM) Pete Carroll? With all the hype and bullshit, he won one title in the 10 years he was there, and regularly pissed down his leg against colleges whose best sport was water polo).

I guess my point is; Meyer deserves a ton of criticism for how his teams have played the past 3 years and how he's handled coaching hires/in game adjustments. Even though he lost a combined 5 games the last 3 season, he's underachieved since 2014, criminally in 2015. No doubt about it. But he's also the 2nd (maybe 3rd behind Dabo) best CFB out there right now. That doesn't mean much when you just got your ass whipped by Iowa, but it's still the truth, and has me hopeful that he will get this shit straightened out eventually, even if he's not Saban.

He's not the serial bungler that was John Cooper, though. Let's put that one right to bed.

Do we need to RSVP for next weeks thread? Please count me in. I really want to see this teams reaction to this. Iowa is over. I want to see MSU feel it.

Agreed. This loss is really bad.... but I just think we're feeling it more because we've been high on the media, past success, 2014 therefore have felt invincible. I felt like this one might be a trap game from the beginning. Never thought it'd be so bad.

We've been lucky to have escaped an upset like this one for the last few years. It happens to the best teams. Hell, we've benefit from losses like Louisville's last year for example. We're not Alabama.... but we're not Indiana either. Can you imagine what those poor fuckers endure?

So we lost 2 games. This shit sucks. But....WE CAN STILL PLAY IN THE B1G CHAMPIONSHIP!! Fuck Wisconsin. We're not getting in. The B1G won't be represented. Probably for the best. Preventing a team from our conference from being there will be doing the B1G a favor (ex. 2015, 2016.... complete disasters).

I love the things JT has done for this team. But, I have to admit, I am looking forward to seeing Haskins next year. I have a feeling it may be a welcome change.

I feel like we have gone away from leaning on the run all season. No use of the two back sets even though the coaching staff claims they installed it weeks ago. The hybrid is just another WR at this point, I haven't seen any of the hybrid plays being used. We should be a spread power run team. Right now I just see us as a spread team.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are now Texas Tech. . . They give the ball to the running backs ten times per game, throw it 50 times, and get smoked by teams that can play defense.

Urban is fine. He might need to change his philosophy a bit but he's fine. The talent is incredible. Maybe it's just time to line the kids up in a different way. Add some creative to the old school ways. Just beat the life out of teams. Let everyone in the country know what you are going to do and try and stop it. Can't have the best players play if the RB's in this program are capable of not being used for quarters at a time. Maybe we need a little less frosting and a lot more cake so to speak.

He's gotten housed three times in the last ten games. That's fine? Losing is one thing. Getting the shit kicked out of you is quite another.

Fuck that. I'm not a fan of the media in any of it's forms. As far as Haskins goes...why? Are the RB's going to be included in the game if he's in? Fucking kills me that a school that had Archie, Eddie, Zeke...and so many others just won't turn the horses loose.

I'm definitely in. The Buckeyes lost 3 or more games every year I was a student, so missing out on the CFP isn't the end of the world for me. Getting embarrassed by fucking Iowa blows, but it still wasn't as painful as Marv Cook beating us in the Shoe as time expired. That day sucked, and I was there to witness it.

We can still beat Michigan and win our conference. For decades, doing those two things was considered a great season for Ohio State. I will not let the "NC or bust" era tarnish them. Today is over. Bring on Sparty!

I really question how much of the Urban/Herman offense is left. So much relies on JT reading the defense now vs the quick hitters that we were once use to. I also really question how good Kevin Wilson is if he can't figure out how to get two of our best playmakers (Dobbins and Weber) on the field at the same time.

I'm just trying to reason my way out of this. I do truly believe the expectations have been boosted by rankings, Meyer legacy and 2014 by a lot of our fanbase that haven't lived through the really BAD years. Maybe not you... but I do think that's the case for many fans.

As for Haskins, I've been impressed by what I've seen so far. He won't solve all our problems. However, I believe we need a different type of QB, and I look forward to a different style.
