Fredo is the older, yet weaker, stupider, brother in The Godfather who is passed over by Don Corleone for a leadership role in the family in favor of his smarter, stronger younger brother, Michael. In response, Fredo stews in jealous bitterness before plotting with outsiders and ultimately betraying Michael and the family in a move that he thought would put him in charge of the family. Though this backstabbing betrayal causes a temporary disruption to Michael's operations, ultimately the stronger brother survives, goes on to prosper and Fredo is harshly dealt with.
Miami of Ohio and Ohio U. are the older, yet weaker and stupider, public universities in the state of Ohio. In the 1860s, both were passed over by Governor Rutherford B. Hayes and the political and business leadership of the state for the leadership role in the state university system in favor of their younger brother, Ohio State. In response they stewed in jealous bitterness until the 1960s when they plotted with a sympathetic Governor in a move that they ultimately thought would put them in charge of the university system. Though this backstabbing betrayal causes a twenty year disruption to Ohio State's reputation, ultimately the stronger university survives, goes on to propser, and Fredo is harshly dealt with.
Now don't even get me started on how Ohio State founding Miami of Ohio's meaningless Ph.D programs for them in the late fifties right before their betrayal is analogous to Michael letting Fredo run one of the family's less important Vegas casinos right before his betrayal.
