OH OL Tommy Kraemer (Notre Dame Signee)

Seems like a nice kid, going to be hard to root against him....

“I want Notre Dame to take over the state of Ohio in my class. You look at all the polls across the country and everyone knows there is a ton of talent in Ohio. We have all this talent and we all kind of want to play together. Why not do it at Notre Dame? It’s the perfect place to be. All of us together — we could do something really special.”

Well, that was easy.

Probably, but that's about the most you can expect out of any coach at ND these days. It doesn't help when they hold out 3 starters and another in the two deep for half a season with some crazy honor code violation bull[Mark May] that the NCAA doesn't even seem to care about.

I realize I didn't make myself clear, but my statement was more in response to the recruit's usage of "we could really do something special". I highly doubt that is the case, but then again, our perception of something really special could be drastically different.

Take over ohio eh? If it wasn't for Notre Dame's religious affiliation they wouldn't get ONE.

Honestly I wish kids would just keep quiet about this sort of stuff.

Absolutely right. Outside of the Catholic schools in Ohio, it's seldom that ND pulls a kid out of Ohio. They'll try at times, but they rarely land them. The kids that grew up in the Catholic schools seem to fit the qualifications, and it seems to be a good fit for them too. There's something like 10 kids from OH on the roster right now, but I think only 2 are from public school systems.

The pull is strong with Catholic kids to ND...my best friend almost ended up there by turning down an athletic scholarship for the great Catholic education card. I have made it clear I really like ND but the "Catholic" angle is ridiculously overplayed, great education but the Catholic influence there is effectively zilch anymore.

First hand experience here... My HS (Archbishop Hoban in Akron) is owned by The Brothers of Holy Cross (same org that owns ND).. we were pushed often to consider ND... and taught by many that graduated from ND.. surprised Tyrell Sutton didn't end up there

OHIO STATE NOT GIVING UP CHASE FOR FIVE-STAR IN-STATE LINEMAN
"They never stopped," he said when I asked him if Ohio State had been trying to stay in touch. "I've just been staying busy with basketball."

One likely topic of discussion? The Buckeyes' effort to get Kraemer back on campus in Columbus, something the Buckeyes were unable to accomplish this past fall despite multiple attempts to do so. With a key Junior Day approaching, the Elder offensive tackle says he'll listen to the Buckeyes' coaches, but makes no promises about any visit.

"Yes," Kraemer said when I asked if they were trying to arrange a Junior Day visit. "I'll have to hear what (Ohio State) has to say."
Hopefully we see Deckeresque results...
