“I want Notre Dame to take over the state of Ohio in my class. You look at all the polls across the country and everyone knows there is a ton of talent in Ohio. We have all this talent and we all kind of want to play together. Why not do it at Notre Dame? It’s the perfect place to be. All of us together — we could do something really special.”
With Kelly as the coach, they'll always be just above average.
Probably, but that's about the most you can expect out of any coach at ND these days. It doesn't help when they hold out 3 starters and another in the two deep for half a season with some crazy honor code violation bull[Mark May] that the NCAA doesn't even seem to care about.
Take over ohio eh? If it wasn't for Notre Dame's religious affiliation they wouldn't get ONE.
Honestly I wish kids would just keep quiet about this sort of stuff.
Absolutely right. Outside of the Catholic schools in Ohio, it's seldom that ND pulls a kid out of Ohio. They'll try at times, but they rarely land them. The kids that grew up in the Catholic schools seem to fit the qualifications, and it seems to be a good fit for them too. There's something like 10 kids from OH on the roster right now, but I think only 2 are from public school systems.
Hopefully we see Deckeresque results..."They never stopped," he said when I asked him if Ohio State had been trying to stay in touch. "I've just been staying busy with basketball."
One likely topic of discussion? The Buckeyes' effort to get Kraemer back on campus in Columbus, something the Buckeyes were unable to accomplish this past fall despite multiple attempts to do so. With a key Junior Day approaching, the Elder offensive tackle says he'll listen to the Buckeyes' coaches, but makes no promises about any visit.
"Yes," Kraemer said when I asked if they were trying to arrange a Junior Day visit. "I'll have to hear what (Ohio State) has to say."
