'Official' I Hate Kanye West Thread

2pac had meaningful lyrics (for the most part), but this shit about kissing each other through the phone, cars, rims, money, and alcoholic drinks ad-nauseam is rubbish.

I don't think that in 20-30 years I'll look back on mainstream music from this time frame and long for the days of T-Pain, Lil Wayne, and whatever other flash-in-the-pan artist comes out with some catchy song that gets played a million times at bars.

But that's just my opinion though :p

My taste of Hip-Hop is stuck in the 80's and 90's. This stuff nowadays is fluff bullshit for the most part, and the ones who have something to say aren't marketed properly to reach a decent audience. Chuck D should be pissed.

Same with rock, pop, country, etc...

Almost all mainstream music is dumbed down to appeal to the largest possible audience.

The Beatles were pop.

I have a hard time listening to your opinion on any music, considering how close minded you are to it.

Well no that was more-so just a joke. Some define the Beatles as one of the first rock bands. But yeah I could see them being classified as pop. And yes, I like the Beatles. I listen to alot of stuff........basically country and rap are the only 2 things I dont like (well of course that goes back to the definition of rap. I classify hip hop, r&b, etc, as rap).

I even listen to jazz and such on occassion. Some people just take my shit too seriously. Of course I like to play off of that

And no, I dont dislike black music because people are black. I like green grapes too, but not because they are green.

I've seen it mentioned a few times in this thread, but after this little outburst several years ago...this should have been all the evidence anyone ever needed on the intelligence of this man:
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIUzLpO1kxI]YouTube - Bush Doesnt Care About Black People[/ame]

I could care less what anyone says about a current, former, or future President, but the dude picked the absolute worst time and forum to present his opinion. He ruined a genuine attempt by other actors and the Red Cross to assist Katrina victums...what a lack of class, and a waste of space.

This part of your statement confuses me. Why would you even give it that designation then? R&B and Rap are two different genres. I am not starting drama, I am genuinely curious as to how you connected the two :)

Well said. I don't know much about Kanye West besides what is said and reported. But it seems to me...he's trying to be something that he is not.

Anyone who says GWB is racist... is probably racist himself/herself.

Kanye West: God Chose Me
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 03.03.2009

"My greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live"...

If you thought yesterday's quotes weren't enough, here's more Kanye from his VH1 Storytellers taping, which aired over the weekend.

Kanye said: "God chose me. He made a path for me. I am God's vessel. But my greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live."

He explained: "I do have an ego and rightfully so. I think people should have an ego. Think about it ? I don't offend people, I don't put anyone down. Do I name names or bring people down? That's not my thing. But I give myself big-ups. I feel good about the music I make."

He also spoke about some of his past comments that could have been perceived as 'homophobic': "If a black man from Chicago was taught to stand far away from gay people because he didn't want to be accused of being gay. What would happen if he'd run into a gay man? What's the talk? What would he learn, what would I learn? I learned that people in Chicago were wrong and I had been an asshole all along."

Oh I wasnt connecting the 2. I just personally include it together for some reason. I cant bring myself to include country in there, although I pretty much view it on the same level as far a me enjoying it
