'Official' I Hate Kanye West Thread

Guys! Guys! Guys!

The point of this thread is to make fun of this douche...

...not debate rap's musical merit. It is music by the way. Polka on the other hand, most definately is not.

And what's wrong with Polka? I like it.

He's not a douche, hes just ...Lost right now, and I hope he gets back to his right mind. Grief will jack you up if you are not careful, and it looks to me that grief is definitely kicking his ass.

I love Biz Markie also. He's another of my "early" favorites.

By the way, billmac..I get what you're saying about Eminem...but if you're judging hip hop/rap...or rock and roll for that matter...on being able to listen to it while picking your mom up from the airport...you're doing it wrong.

Good point.

I did just make a hip-hop CD of 140 MP3 songs, and I was surprised at the songs I picked. After reflection on the songs I chose, it normally came down to songs that would be socially acceptable. As I was going through old tracks, songs I used to love just didn't have the same effect on me.....songs like "Redefinition", "Definition", "Respiration", and "The Art of Story-telling" did though.

I just don't like him. Pretentious is the word maybe. Not sure. I don't like his voice either. I do like Mos Def A LOT. I like a few of Common's songs, but he annoys me to an extent.

I didn't claim The Chronic brought hip hop to the mainstream, that was general.

But honestly, I think Beastie Boys "Lisence to Ill" brought hip hop to the mainstream moreso than Raising Hell. That is, if you consider "the mainstream" to be suburban white kids. The urban black population knew about hip hop even before raisin hell. Run DMC even says the Beastie Boys are more responsible.

I love Biz Markie also. He's another of my "early" favorites

This is true The Beastie Boys did that, but Raising Hell brought their parents into the fold :)

I dont understand how you can call Talib Pretentious, but to each their own. My favorite album from him was Quality. "Get By" was my personal theme song for years and I still listen to "Rush" when I need to pump myself up {Yes, I am a music Junkie}

We will have to agree to disagree with Common as well. Finding Forever is like a love letter to me, he truly loves the art and it showed.[plus hes fine as hell too but im over my girly moment LOL]

I still love Biz to this day! I recently went to an Ol' school concert with Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick, The SugarHill Gang, and Chubb Rock, and what amazed me was that most folks brought their kids [mine wouldnt go, he loves lil wayne, the poor child] and they had just as much if not more fun than the old heads did.

Tempted to start an "Official I hate Lil Wayne" thread. The most retarted lyrics I've ever heard. How the fuck did he have a critically acclaimed album?

Yeah, Kanye's a douche too.

We will agree to disagree on Kanye, but I am so there with you on Lil Wayne... I was like How the hell did he win all those Grammys? His flow is weak, his beats are garbage and he looks like a troll gone horribly wrong... THERE'S the real douch if you ask me

I'm not all that fimiliar with Lil Wayne's music, but at least he doesn't dress like a 'Sesame Street' character.

If you feel rap/ hip-hop is not music, how is your reaction to those who said rock wasn't music a little over a half-century ago?

that is there opinion......just as the rap thing is mine. There is nothing deep about it. I just feel that there is no talent involved. I dont hate people for liking rap. Wouldnt expect them to like my music either.
