anybody want to give me 3-to-1 odds that texas and ohio state are placed in the same region? the committee members claim that they don't set the brackets for intriguing matchups, but i don't buy the company line.

I totally agree with that. Watching the game the other night I thought the same thing. also, Oden missing the early games as well as being more physical he is less likely to hit the wall, Durant probably will. tOSU and Oden haven't peaked yet which is a good thing, if Butler and Lewis could be more consistent and a steadying force come March look out.

That's funny, b/c he was a 6'6 guy playing forward using that big ass to box out. You sure you watched him play?

The 2nd you brought up Shaun Stonerook, you lost all credibility. :slappy:
Thump, you made two mistakes:

1. Barkley is nowhere near 6-6; 6-4 at most. And the fact he had a wide body does not mean that was his primary rebounding ass(et). I saw him play frequently as a collegian at Auburn and as a pro.

2. Shauny falling asleep in class (and on the bench, for all I know) does not invalidate that he was a terrific rebounder while in scarlet and gray. He remains a Windex man in the Italian league with Montepaschi, ranking 9th in the league in boards.

I remember Charles blasting guys out of the lane with his ass while rebounding.

Boxing out is one of the first things they teach you when playing basketball.

Mr. Oden sure seems to box out a good bit.

Whatever, Thump. I'm sure you know more about Barkley's game than he himself does.:tongue2:

Well just look at it this way. Oden is 275 athletic pounds, and Durant is a big man at 190 pounds. Which player sounds more like a boxing out, rebounding type of guy? Oden could push Durant around all game if he wanted to just because of his body mass. Its as simple as that.

I mean it's not like he's known for saying outlandish things. :wink2:

Or, outrageous, as is the title of his autobiography.

Barkley, while not boxing out traditionally, sitting down in the lane, still knew where his man was by keeping contact most times. Durant doesn't even come close to doing this half the time.

Another thing, tell me how many 6'4" guys we will see leading the NBA in rebounding ever again? Barkley was unique. What worked for him isn't what will work for most everybody else.

I personally think it is hard to compare them. Durant could be very good, but his play in the Big XII will not shed light in how he will do in the pros. Also, if you are a good, dominant center, you are few and far between. As far as where Durant will play, it will take something very special for him to excel.
