Oden, Durant give hope to NBA's worst

Super freshmen could be franchise players

(February 8, 2007) ? The Memphis Grizzlies and Boston Celtics are the NBA's two worst teams but their frustrated fans have three important dates to look forward to:

April 29 ? The NBA's early-entry eligibility deadline.
May 22 ? The NBA draft lottery.

June 28 ? The NBA draft.

If all goes well, freshman sensations Greg Oden (Ohio State) and Kevin Durant (Texas) will declare for the draft and one will wind up in Memphis and the other in Boston.

Durant making case as best player in college hoops

JIM VERTUNO

Associated Press

AUSTIN, Texas - Of all the crazy numbers surrounding Kevin Durant, here's the one that might be the most impressive: 18.
The 6-foot-9 Texas forward who plays like a man among boys is, well, still just a kid. Durant just turned 18 years old in September.
Durant is averaging 33 points and 14 rebounds in Big 12 play and has turned this season - which many expect to be his only one in college - into a playful tour de force of 3-pointers, rebounds, dunks and baby-faced smiles as he rips through defenses.

Just reported on NBA shootaround that if the Celtics were to end up with the first pick they would take Oden...

The Celtics would quickly become a contendor with Paul Pierce for the full season to go with West, Telfair, Green on the outside while Oden woudl give them an inside presence...

I guess that is one good thing about having your superstar hurt for the whole season...

I still think that Oden brings more to a team using the 1st pick over a Durant, and Honestly a guy like Brandon Wright from UNC could also enter this talk and could also end up the #2 pick...

What a crazy level of talent that was actually forced to go to college for at least a year...

I doubt Oden could make or break that team. Maybe after a couple years in the NBA. The Celtics are fucking terrible right now.

You do realize they have their best player out, who can take a game over on any given night, combined with a defensive presence like Oden, witch guys like West, Telfair on the perimter you have a contendor in the East..

but why "box out" if you have the "postion"

see what im saying?

Position inside a man leads to being able to box out. Boxing out is a critical part of the game and if u dont box out, its always a jump ball for the rebound, but when you box out, you pretty much secure the rebound. Position leads to boxing out. Critical, Critical part of the game.
