Notre Dame (football only discussion)

So these guys get to collect $20M for themselves with the CFP payout.

$4M for making it
$4M for reaching quarterfinal
$6M for reaching semifinal
$6M for reaching final

And they’re just letting them keep it all, without a conference split. And they did it by defeating an ACC schedule + service academies. How is that fair? $20M easy! Enough for a damn good roster so I hear.

The playoff run was Indiana (solid but meh, come on), Georgia (solid but frosh QB, down overall) and a James Franklin Penn State.

I agree with Franklin earlier this week that everyone needs to be in a conference. This is ridiculous if they found an easy formula and this is the reward they get. Compensation/incentives drive behavior and they have no reason to change now.

Tired of these guys having Easy Street - while still finding a way to feel persecuted.
Not to mention sitting on your ass while conference playoffs face most other teams in the playoffs.

I just don’t think Golden will keep them in man. But idk how you change an entire scheme so late in the seasThon. He has to know that their DBs in man’s would be killed in the 1st half alone.

The mismatch is Smith against any one of their corners. If they try and go man against him, my prediction is he'll have three by halftime, and they'll come out in the second half and do what tejas did.

Congrats to Notre Dame for reaching the CFP final. I didn't see the entire game but what I saw looked like a clean game. Freeman was gracious in losing. I respect that, given that nobody game them a chance after the NIU debacle. Props.
Yeah. That was a very different ND team than what we saw with Kelley and Fat Bastard. Still hate them. I don't weep for Freeman though. He's playing the ND cards just right, and they're about to back up a truck of generational wealth to his backdoor.

I just don’t understand the strategy of kill your QB on the first drive of the game. Like if the plan is the do it the entire game then ok, but that wasn’t and couldn’t be the plan.

They got a TD, but it put themselves at a disadvantage for the rest of the game.

I think that's all they had. Outside of the QB runs and a few lucky pass plays in the second half they had trouble moving the ball. I think their hope was to do what they did on the first series and hope their defense could stop us to get their offense back on the field. The general running game outside of the QB would have become more successful if they could have 3 and outed our offense. After we drove down and tied it up their plan went out the window.

i agree with @exhawg

that was their one and only shot and they needed to get up early and hope the osu offense shoots itself in the foot.

was a bad gamble, but it’s the only play they had to try and snuff osu out early.

What was amazing was that they rushed for 44 on that first drive, and added 9 net yards rushing for the rest of the game.

But Leonard threw for over 200 in the second half, when they couldn’t run it, and didn’t have the time to try.
