Too soon. That's sad. That's like us saying "we'll always have Teddy Ginn's opening kickoff return."
yeah, except we also didn't have Teddy Ginn after that. They still had the same team following their drive. That's sad. That's like us saying "we'll always have Teddy Ginn's opening kickoff return."
How can you possibly keep track?
It’s just a wall of noise and nonstop commercials.
Too soon.
Point being...we've won 2 Natty's since and don't have to lean on "almost" and "what if?"
I like to think of it this way: A gritty Buckeye team faced a team whose name is synonymous with college football success. A team led by a young coach who has put fire back into the Irish brand. The crowd would probably favor Notre Dame. Yes, it’s bull shit. But I wanna make sure that that what the buckeyes accomplished was an overpowering victory against a talented team, a rising star coach, in a hostile environment. Not a team that got some lucky bounces, a couple of iffy calls by the refs, w coach who took to many risks. The "fake" punt was worse, by far.
Everybody on earth saw that coming. Without the element of surprise, "fakes" aren't really fakes now are they? It's just a low percentage play with goofy formations and people being asked to do things they don't normally do on things that they likely haven't practiced that much.
Also known as putting your guys in a position to fail.
Freeman hype is just that. Hype. He ran 10 men on the field in goal and game to go last year, lost to NIU this year and showed his Franklin-esq tendencies once again in the championship game. He isn't awful but he isn't the hottest young name in coaching they are so desperate to label him with either.
He has charisma and is a likeable guy. I think his style would go over much better with younger kids than NFL but who knows for sure?
Ritt
One of the ESPN guys in the post game show actually said it best, Freeman makes ND likeable (if you aren't in the camp that hates them no matter what) and that is hard to do.
GPA!I like to think of it this way: A gritty Buckeye team faced a team whose name is synonymous with...bull shit.
Lost their DC, RB coach and a couple top linemen have transferred.
Also if he made the FG it would have been an 8 pt game when they took the last possession with at least a chance. Missing that short field goal was really unlucky and getting the TD was crazy low probability.A lot of people are making fun of Marcus Freeman for going for that field goal, down 16, and 9:34 remaining. It was 4th and goal from the 9. I think I would have gone for the touchdown, but I can understand why he might have chosen for a field goal.
Down 16, you need 2 touchdowns and 2 2-pt conversions to tie. The 2-pt conversions are both make-or-miss situations. Miss it, and you need another score. Make them both, and then you have to roll the dice in overtime.
If he makes it, he's down 13. He still needs 2 touchdowns, but 2 1-pt conversions wins the game. No overtime.
I think he thought there was a better chance of getting another possession and another score (assuming they'd make the field goal) than they would making that fourth down conversion, plus converting on 2 2-pt conversions.
But hey - I don't mind making fun of someone who lost to the Buckeyes.
