Notre Dame (football only discussion)

I don't care about the SEC streak. The only thing I would get out of a Georgia NC either way is a great Squidbillies episode.

I do care about an Alabama dynasty. This cannot happen, and if the Irish have to be the ones to blow up the Death Star, so be it.

A back up who's played a grand total of maybe 10 snaps this season stepping out and guaranteeing a victory before the entire gameplan is in? Give me a break

Yeah, gotta admire the confidence though. Big time recruit, comes from the same high school as Barkley, calling for a win in his first start against his school's big rival. It's good for his team, if they weren't going to play at a high level already, they will now.

Notre Dame isn't using it as bulletin board material though. That was kind of Weis's thing. He would pin up the statement in the locker room and use it. The interviews with the players this week said the statement doesn't affect them. They've actually come to expect this kind of statement, you're certainly not going to say "We're going to lose" if you're the starting QB. They're not changing the preparation at all, basically getting ready as if they're going against Barkley....(which I wouldn't be surprised if he had a miraculous recovery this week, the injury being more Lane Kiffin trickery).

USCs starting QB has a rating of 214 and completes 90% of his passes.

He has those stats because he has played in all of three games, two of which were in mop-up duty against two truly shitty teams (3 of 3 for 22 yard against Hawaii, and 2 of 3 for 33 yards against Colorado), and the third being late against UCLA due to the injury to Barkley (3 of 3 for 40 yards). For the season he's 8 of 9 for 95 yards and 1 TD.

Notre Dame is an almost textbook definition of a parasite. It sticks with a host, sucking it dry, taking but never giving until that host is barely alive. Then, with no more life to suck out of its dying host, it jumps to a new, healthy host. That was the move it attempted in its jump to the ACC.

Only this time, Jim Delaney said enough is enough! And god damn if he won't put a bullet through the new host's brain rather than allow the parasite to continue its deadly cycle.

My miracle scenario would be an '07, when the BCS title went to a two loss team. This would happen if:

Georgia losses to GT and Florida to FSU. Georgia beats 'Bama in the SEC title game and goes on to win the BCS title game.

Ideally, it would be nice if the opponent also had two losses. But with ND having only one game left on the schedule this is not possible. So again, I'm hoping for Georgia and UF to both lose next week, then Georgia beating 'Bama and ND losing to USC. If that were to happen, OSU's got a shot at the AP.

you're doing it wrong.

UGA beat GT
Aubie beats Bama
A&M beats Mizzou
FSU beats FU

then LSU beats UGA and UCLA beats Oregon.
