Next Generation Console News: Xbox One, PS4, Wii U

We realize you're a Micro$oft fanboy, but let that butthurt flow... :shake:

nope, not a fanboy

i've owned many sony systems (PS3 was the first I didn't own)

if I was a fanboy I wouldn't have canceled my pre order for the xbox one

only reason I preferred the xbox over ps4 was because I personally enjoy xbox's exclusives more than Sony's. And I was getting pretty excited over some of the features they would have had like the sharing your library, but that's down the toilet now since they took out DRM

They didn't have to remove that feature when they removed DRM. They chose to. Don't blame the people who were pissed about DRM for that, blame Microsoft for being petty.

So now, outside of the "one-time setup" online, it's basically a PS3.

Being that I'm not a huge fan of exclusives, I think I'll stick with my PS4 pre-order. Might pickup an XB1 in the future after a price drop or two.

+1. The consumers spoke and M$ changed accordingly.

I don't recall anyone asking for M$ to let them trade and share physical disks while simultaneously asking them to do away with other features (such as library sharing). M$ can still provide that feature/ability if they want to.

The restrictive DRM policies they wanted to implement meant that people didn't really own the games. It was more that people would have owned a right to play those games. Simply having a right to use something greatly diminishes it's value rather than owning something. That might have been fine if they were planning to drop the price of each game by $20 or so. And I see that as a way for them to entice downloaded game purchases.

This is a big win for gamers and general consumers.

so people laugh at MS for having the polices now, they change it because that's what the internet wanted..

and now laughed at for being "same" as PS4

makes sense

Nope. I'm laughing because for $100 more you essentially have the same restrictions as PS4. And IMO the PS4 has better features (the streaming of games to a friend is HUGE, if it works correctly).

But the big reason I'm laughing at M$, is because they saw that PS4 is $100 cheaper, wasn't as restrictive, and realized if they didn't change their policies, Xbone would be squashed.

Now they just need to put out a version without the Kinect to shave off the $100

There is plenty of time to not botch this up if they choose

Wouldn't be surprised if they announce something like this in the coming weeks.

yes they did, everything was built around the cloud, etc, having disc based, and not having to be online removes that. To have certain features you HAVE to have DRM

all we're getting this gen is PS 3.5 and Xbox 2.5, there is very little movement in technological advancement

but, MS does need to do something else with adding something in or taking out the kinect as mandatory so they aren't $100 more

Then get mad at Microsoft for releasing an idiotic, oppressive and consumer hated drm system. It would have taken about two minutes to figure that out in market testing on any message board. They knew that and went for it anyway, probably in part because it looked like Sony was headed down a similar path.

That said, they could adjust their system to allow cloud sharing and online syncing drm for that feature while allowing regular gamers to game without an Internet connection.

I had 0 problems with the DRM polices

The cloud can still exist without DRM. It just wouldn't be mandatory. There is no reason that people who choose to participate could not still share their games with friends, like MS originally planned, except because MS is being petty.
