Thinking of getting a console soon. Leaning towards the PS4 but could easily be swayed either way. Should I wait for there to be another "version" of these consoles to come out? Are there significant bugs or issues for either console? And most of all, which is better and why?
As far as console exclusive releases (Halo, Forza, MLB The Show), I don't care too much. I play sports games and some shooters (COD, BF). Occasionally some other random games.
Obviously, PS4 has the better technology for gaming, but will there even be noticeable differences between that and the XBone? Are the "extras" of either console exceedingly more awesome than what the competitor provides?
I'll speak for Xbox One since I own one. There are plenty of pros and some cons to getting the Xbox One. First off, if you are a fan of shooter games and have played Battlefield on a 360 or PS3, it's a completely different game on Xbox One. Much crisper graphics, smoother play, and the ability to play in 32 on 32 battles. Unfortunately, since EA has their greasy hands on BF4, the lag and server instability is still a reoccurring issue.
On sports games, I think this next wave coming out in the next few months will give us a real feel of how the next gen consoles will perform with sports titles. I do enjoy playing FIFA on Xbox One, pro clubs is quite enjoyable to play with friends.
Controllers feel better on the new console, but are made cheaper (imagine that). If you use the mic given to you, use that thing like it's made of glass. One drop of the controller with headset plugged in, and that headset is likely busted. I'm on my second Xbox headset. Luckily, there's alternative options to communication now. With Turtle Beach, Astro, and a few others, you can go with a stereo headset. I wouldn't recommend it if you do mostly sports gaming, but could come in handy for shooter games.
I've been having the occasional problem of signing into Xbox Live. It will come up with an error code, and when I check the website it's a known issue, so I know it's not just my Xbox. Good thing is, it's usually resolved within an hour. Still pretty annoying.
Overall, the Xbox One is a fun console, and it's nearly the best time to own one with all of the new games being released. Hope this helps a bit.
